Tournament season seems off and running with Futures starting, Water Polo Experience this weekend, and Kap 7 then next. I don’t believe there is a team list published yet, but I figured I would start a place to discuss the tournament. Any idea if any of the international teams will stay to play a second weekend in Kap7?
Tonight North Irvine is playing FTC, Scrimmage Monday night vs FTC from Hungary
Monday at Ocean view hs. With refs.
Based on that then it is safe to assume those teams came early and would not stay another week for Kap 7 International tournament the following week. That would be a very long trip. It makes sense to come early and adjust.
Is this 18u boys? What time?
Are you asking about Kap 7? It is for all ages boys and girls.
Edit, I see that was for Tony. Thanks
Yes. 18U boys at 6pm. And I think that Newport play a Greek team after at the same pool.
Has anyone seen a list of teams for Kap 7 yet?
The competing Socal/Chawp tournament is likely going to divide up some of the club teams. Hopefully the directors/coaches are communicating so that teams have appropriate competition available. The calendar on the Mission website indicates Kap 7. Vanguard calendar is empty. Dons doesnt seem to have a website. Socal calendar shows Chawp/Socal tournament.
It will be interesting to see how divided it is. The team list is posted but not the schedule or brackets just yet. I am not sure if the Chawp list is posted.
Looks like for 12U Dons, Vanguard, and Socal are doing the Chawp/Socal tournament.
Quite a few norcal teams up against Mission. Interested to see how the seeding goes. Guessing Mission is top seed but not sure with all the others. Kind of hoped to see one of the other top socal teams in that list.
The Kap 7 brackets are out. The 14u Plat. division looks very competitive. Any upsets predictions?
It is good to see a competitive field with the competing tournament going on at the same time. 18U platinum having 27 teams is a lot. It is hard early season to read too much into the seedings. There are a couple of teams that I have never heard of which will be interesting to see, and likely made seeding even more difficult for the organizers.
I’m looking forward to seeing what 14u NorCal looks like. They were JO Champs at 12u two years ago and no one has seen them at full strength yet this year due to having a couple kids who were playing high school water polo in the fall.
Agree 100%. Wanting to see NORCAL 14u at full strength has been the primary reason I’ve been holding off on any new 14u rankings.
Any predictions or sleepers for 19u Kap 7 next weekend? My sleeper is Riverside seeded at 23 seems pretty low for them.
ODP event for SoCal zones on last day of Kap7. Day 1 should be fun but Day 2, when the top teams meet, will be anticlimactic. A few of the top teams will be missing their entire starting line up.
I know clubs from Riverside but not sure who all is on the team. Is this a collection of Route 66, CHAWP, Rancho Tsunami?
Rumor is that the team is mostly CBU freshman, incoming freshman and a couple of sophomores that are eligible…such as Rafa Martinez and Whitley Beamon
Sounds like a tough 23 seed.
