Looks like there is now a second tournament competing the weekend of Kap 7. Curious to hear from some other clubs regarding their entries. Kap 7 has certainly become very expensive. Will the new tournament also take place in Orange County? Which pools will be used for each tourney?
IDK about this particular tournament, but typically CHAWP tournaments use Riverside County pools. Norco High School, Corona High School, and Santiago High School are heavily used. Sometimes they’ll use Elsinore High School, Lakeside High School, and Temescal Canyon High School. There is normally no overlap between the pools used by CHAWP and Irvine Kahuna / KAP7, but I don’t have any specific information on this tournament.
Check the pricing on both tournaments before you enter your team. Last weekend the SOCAL Winter Invite was much cheaper to enter a team in, than the competing tournament that same weekend.

If I’m not mistaken, the recent socal winter classic had the same hosts. The pools were at UCI, Foothill HS, Orange HS, El Modena HS, Tustin HS and Santiago HS so I’d expect the same.
That is correct, and if in fact both tournaments are held the same weekend, I can guaranty you that the CHAWP/SOCAL tournament will be cheaper to enter than the Kahuna’s run tournament.
Following this thread; I didn’t realize this was a different tournament from the KAP7 tournament going on at the same time and only see the schedule for the latter…

Sounds like the final in 12U Div 1 between SD Dons and Socal was very good. Dons won the shootout.
That was a good game. Any other teams look strong?
I think the team that is rising fast is Newport. Not sure what their ceiling is though. Certainly they have a storied history of success.
San Clemente continued their run of shootouts, crazy how many shootouts that team has been in.
