+1. US again getting suckered into both being stupid and getting caught at it when other teams get physical. This is a long-term issue for our men’s team. Not helped by the amount of holding that referees in this Olympics are not calling, which is a huge disadvantage to a player like Hooper, but high-level players need to deal with the game the referees are calling and roll with it. I thought that call could go either way–but putting that decision in front of the referee is not smart polo.
Good to get out of that down only 3 goals. Gonna be hard to catch up without Hooper.
And even if we do we won’t have him in the semis…

Well maybe the Aussies are going to just shoot themselves in the foot. Taking the swagger too far and refs are trying to get this back under control.
That head butt after the offensive foul at center should have been an exclusion. If refs are going to call the stupid retaliation fouls, they’ve got to call them when they are obvious.

I am not usually a ref complainer, but how was that hold from behind not a penalty? Obvious, above the water, player not holding the ball, ball in front of him and right in front of goal.
No kidding. Almost criminal the no call there. Very inconsistent officiating in this one. Refs are in over their head.
