Euro 2026 - Belgrade

Starts next week → HOME - Belgrade | 2026 European Water Polo Championships Men

They. are busy filling the pool with hoses ! Pretty cool 12,500 seat stadium being used for games and I bet it will be filled. I see they will be posting highlights but am having some challenges finding streaming options. Anyone know about live streams?

Group C looks tough!

Haven’t seen livestream info yet, but I think it was YouTube and/or https://www.euroaquaticstv.com/ last time.

Hope the games will be streamed for US viewers as it should be a very competitive and fun tournament🤞

if its not just use a vpn and change your location to a European country so it works

Pretty even group IMHO… except Group D where Italy should cake walk everyone.

No West Temkin? Wonder why hes not there

He has to do an academic semester abroad to complete his degree from Stanford.

Wow, crazy finish. Both Mandic and Grandos end up getting red carded, came down the wire…

Serbs dug deep. Surprised by red card for Mandic and not just because of who he is. I didn’t think it was warranted. The red card on Granados seemed like a makeup call. Will have to watch again.

Really entertaining game though.

Mandic’s foul was clear–he threw an elbow. Pretty clearly a violent action, I’m not sure what else could have been called there. The Granados call was less clear. I don’t think he was called for brutality–there was no 4 minute player advantage so I think this a simple misconduct. It looked like he just swam over the top of the Serbian player, but under the water there may have been wrestling and acting. But seeing what was visible, the referee had to make a call there.

I agree @Mepolo. I should’ve been more clear on Mandic. Spain clearly (and successfully!) had a plan to throw bodies at him right from the start. Mandic DEFINITELY threw the elbow. However, as part of the whole he was also being targeted with a Hack-a-Shaq strategy.

Agreed that once he threw the elbow ref had no choice. It was more leading up to that they should’ve been calling more fouls and misconducts (or perhaps a warning?) beforehand. I don’t have a dog in the fight, but I just like watching him play!:winking_face_with_tongue:

Agreed. I had the exact same thought–had the officials called a double exclusion or rolled a player or two early, they might have dialed back the physicality a lot and given us a better game to watch. I hear a lot about how differently the game is called in Europe, and it may just be that they allow a lot more physicality than we who see mostly NCAA games are used to. I only see international water polo for a few games per year and only on video, so not in a position to evaluate. FINA rules are also a bit different from NCAA.

Two games for Mandic and one for Granados. With the new format this could really impact the tournament as it looks like Mandic will have to sit out a crossover game. Two games seems unusual. https://www.instagram.com/p/DTcYhPljCRL/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

I think I recall Hallock and/or Bowen needing to sit two Olympic games for a brutality. The hack-a-Shaq has been an effective defense on Hallock at times.
