Alright! It’s time to be dead wrong in public!

10u Girls

  1. 908
  2. Patriot
  3. Newport

908 has some FAST girls. Newport is always good. Patriot has the top 3 girls in 10u but it’ll depend on if they play 10u girls or with their Navy team in 12u.

10u coed

  1. OCWPC
  2. Los Al
  3. Patriot Red

Los Al and OC are a toss up imo. They both have talent. I think OC’s huge center will be the difference maker. For third it’ll be between Newport B and Patriot B who had a 2 goal game in K7 last month.

10u Boys

  1. 908
  2. CDM
  3. San Clemente
908 has some big lefties that are very talented. They’ll out-physical CDM. CDM and San Clemente are works in progress.

12u Girls

  1. Newport
  2. San Clemente
  3. Commerce

A good division but they’re missing Del Mar. Without Del Mar, Newport should win!

12u Boys

  1. SD Dons
  2. Mission
  3. CDM

The Patriot Invite showed Mission is above, but Cyrus has been cooking up something with the Dons and they’re finally playing 12u. I think this is the preview of the JO final.

Another interesting side note is that the top 4 10u teams of this season are playing in the 12u boys gold division. They’ll likely face eachother somehow so it’s an interesting snippet.

14u Girls

  1. Newport
  2. 908
  3. San Clemente

Newport by a mile. Hope Doyle, Makenna Mack and Cece Mesenbrink are built different. 908 has a couple top end girls but Newport’s size will beat them. San Clemente in third based on their ODP numbers.

14u Boys

  1. La Jolla
  2. CC United
  3. Mission

La Jolla only has one big loss on the year. This is the tournament where they establish their favorite status into JOs.

Just curious, 14U (girls) is when we can name players without being censored?

If there is a rule on it, I’m unaware of it. Broadly, I don’t name players until they are incoming freshmen. There are exceptions for when USA Water Polo publishes the names, such as ODP or JOs, or when a player’s parent indicates they don’t have an issue with it.

Parents vary greatly in where they draw the line between protection of their kid’s identity, and wanting recognition for their son’s or daughter’s achievements. I do my best to be respectful of that and tend toward being maybe even a bit overly protective in the public part of the forum.

For 12U boys I think Newport will be in the top 3 not CDM, but am probably splitting hairs. I just think Newport making the final four at SD Cup puts them closer to the top teams than CDM, though CDM is scrappy for sure. Perhaps tomorrow will let us know how much #2 being on IR hurts Mission short term. Stay tuned.

Told y’all I was gonna be wrong :joy::sweat_smile:

12U boys final was a really good game. Dons (missing a player injuried) was out in front in the first half (5 over 4). Mission (-#2) outscored the Dons in the second half taking the lead in the third and managing the lead till the end 11 - 9. Tsunami vs Newport was also a good game for 3rd I was wrong about Newport taking third but it honestly could have gone either way as I think it was tied up mid way.

There were some great games in 14U as well. Newport over Mission for 3rd was close, and LJU in first was a good call by @PoloEnthusiast

Great games at Sailors Cup. The 12u Boys finals, Mission vs Dons, was high level. Seems like a good amount of mission kids came from other clubs over the past several months. They’ll be tough to beat with the team they constructed. Could very easily be the JO finals. These two teams are top of their class

The 14u Boys championship game between La Jolla and LA Premier was a replay of the finals of County Cup. La Jolla won by 5. They rolled through Sailors Cup. When La Jolla is on, they have to be favored going into JOs.

The only changes on the Mission squad were when one player left to go to LJU, and two moved over from Socal after that. Mission is missing a player currently who has his left arm in a cast/sling.

As I noted SD Dons also had a player not dressed this weekend.

Highly likely the injured players are impactful to these squads.

Late edit: since Mission has no 10U every kid on that squad played elsewhere prior to going out of their way to select Mission as their club.

Those players mentioned 14U were all at NTSC no? Most of the players were

Yeah I think they were.

Sailor Cup 14u thoughts after watching Sunday.

Note: Norcal was not in attendance.

Top Tier Teams:

La Jolla United–appears to be the most consistent team: sound half-court defense, excellent counter, and at least 5 players (2,3,4,6,and 12) who can finish. No. 3 is crafty. No true center, but all their attackers can post up.

LA Premier–very talented and has 3 legit lefties, No. 2 was solid, and a center that demands a drop. Can be a bit erratic with their shot selection, but they do have some legit shot makers.

Newport: Very balanced and versatile bunch, despite missing two starters. They can beat you inside (3 and 7) and out (16, 13), and their defense is legit with arguably the best goalie–although I have not seen the Norcal goalie.

Mission: Finished fourth despite missing two of their best players (Kass and Pasin). Rangy attackers who can post up as well in 11 and 12. Very sound defensively and can counter.

  • All four of these teams could win (Futures/JOs) if healthy.

Note #2: Did not see SD Dons, CIU, 908, or N. Irvine.

  • The Dons do have a nice roster in Lee (cage), Essick, Ferriera, Reid, Dantas, etc…
  • Have not seen CIU, but they may have the best attacker in 14u in Warkentin, and Ignatczyk is one of the better goalies.

2nd Tier

Patriot: They would be in my first tier, but don’t have a lot of depth. They’re fast on the counter, and their left side (11 and 7) is legit and crafty. No. 3 (LH Center/utility) is a handful as well.

OCWPC: This is an athletic bunch in numbers 4,8, and 7-- with a big center (9). This is a sleeper team for Futures and JOs.

Commerce: As usual, quick, skilled, and crafty. Their left side (12 and 13) was a problem for teams. This is Commerce’s best team in a while.

Vanguard: Coach Joko is doing a great job with this team. I believe their the youngest team in 14u. Skilled, fast, but not much size.

CC United: Coach Brody is doing well with this group. Not the usual depth and speed in years past, but there is some solid skill here.

CDM: Have a solid team with some quality athletes in 4, 8, and 11.
