That’s a big loss for UCSB.
Jacob Carlson, Bonita HS and Mt San Antonio, Saint Mary’s
I understand Danilo may have had a strong connection to the former assistant coach, but in general it seems very hard for UCSB to recruit and retain talent. It boggles the mind. I believe they have some good freshmen coming in, but will their top players always bolt when the chance arises?
Until UCSB gets a new pool or fixes the old one. They will continue to have this problem.
They’ll continue to struggle to recruit and retain top players and talent until they get a new pool (unfortunately not anytime soon) and an AD who cares enough to push for meaningful change. So sad as they used to be a great program.
I guess we can blame $$
Yes the Gauchos have their unique “issues” but I would assume that the non big 4 schools will continue to grab top players in other conferences annually further separating the gap between MPSF and others. At least polo doesn’t have the multiple transfer issues that other sports have…yet.
I believe UCSB only operates with 2 scholarships across 24 guys and not much in the way of other sources of funding - I think that, more than the pool, is the biggest reason UCSB can’t retain some of its better players. Certainly the pool situation doesn’t help.
Oktavian Veklyuk from Quinto, Genoa committed to Fordham
Apostolos Georgaras to USC
That’s a game changer for a USC team that was likely going to be a top 2 contender again this season.
Huge for USC. Anyone know if Martin still playing for USC?
Crazy scoring duo for them now on left side of pool.
Tough blow for Pacific. Especially because he was rostered for the Pacific Cup in mid April, which means they must have thought he had every intention of playing for them in the fall. This happening so late limits recruiting someone to mitigate his departure.
Tough blow for sure but I heard the rumor at the end of last year so it was out there. I’m sure UOP was aware.
Looks like USC is really benefiting off Pacific’s recruiting.
On another note, is Stefan Brankovic done at USC?
I believe Brankovic and Jack Martin are done at USC.
Any other transfers from the portal? Wishing everyone a successful athletic and academic year!
Laszlo Strasser → Fordham. Talented Hungarian lefty who graduated from Wagner after a 100+ goal season. Looks like he’ll be a graduate student at Fordham. It’ll be interesting to see what he can do with a strong supporting cast of talented players around him.
