Portal '25-26 - Men

I believe he was honored during senior day last year.

Two of the top LHAs from the WCC have hit the portal.

Andrea Nuzzo is in the portal. Nuzzo had 92 goals and 48 assists for CBU. Imme Van Der Schaff is also in the portal; he had 49 goals and 42 assists for Santa Clara.

Wow, could be a big loss for CBU

I agree. Nuzzo is a fantastic player. Incredible shooter who can wreak havoc on a zone. Every time I watched CBU, he jumped out. If we put together a ranking of guys in the portal, I cannot imagine there are going to be many more ahead of him on the list.

Big loss for Santa Clara - Freshman was the 2nd leading scorer and 2nd in assist.

With all due respect, I don’t think that’s an appropriate conversation to start. Players are going to enter the portal, it’s just a fact of the current environment. I don’t think we should play fantasy water polo and mention names of players that may or may not want to transfer

I agree completely — we shouldn’t be speculating about who should enter the portal or where they should go. These are real athletes making real decisions, not pieces in a fantasy draft.

The bigger problem is the system itself. The transfer portal has gotten out of control, it’s impossible to build continuity or understand what a roster even means anymore. Programs invest years into recruitment, developing athletes only to lose them in a heartbeat (especially true for smaller programs). Athletes get pressured into decisions that aren’t always in their long-term interest. But most importantly it undermines what commitment in college sports is supposed to mean.

The whole process needs a serious review and revision. Guardrails, consistency, and accountability would bring stability back to college water polo and college sports in general. Until then, the least we can do is avoid adding to the noise by throwing names around.

That is fair and reasonable. Apologies for the direction of the question.

That’s the world we live in now. Showcase your talent one year and enter the portal the next. It’s a free market. And with NIL, it’s going to get really crazy in NCAA football and basketball programs because of the money that can be made.

Not even sure what’s going to happen with coaches recruiting in HS and how much energy they will be willing to put into it

Where does he go? Is Fordham in the mix considering their success with Italian talent?

How do you see players who have entered the portal? Is there a website?

Only for coaches and administrators.

I’m not sure how much truth there is to it, but my son told me that Joel Jenness, Konstantinos Kapragkos, Corbin Stanley, and a few others from CSULB are apparently testing the portal.

Would not be shocked if Joe Jenness entered the portal. Heard that Gavin will be putting all his resources in getting a foreign goalie for next year.

Joe Jenness, Michael Soybel, Kostas Kapragkos (leaving, but not in portal yet), and Caleb Francisco are in the portal.

Bernardo Herzer is also in the portal…

So this plus the above seems like both goalies are in portal?

He meant Jack Martin, not Mills.

Apologies. I have to go back and edit that post!
