JRH and Gheorghe are a nice complement to one another. JRH is more of a utility and can play on the outside and unlike your traditional center, he loves stepping out for a dry pass and is very accurate with his shot placement too. Meanwhile, Gheorghe is a big presence and will swim into you and draw contact immediately. He is more of a traditional center and not as patient as JRH. As a 2MD on the opposing team, it’s difficult to go from guarding one to the other because of their unique skillsets. You always have to be alert.
We were all gushing over him in the chat but JRH really was tremendous today. UCLA had no answer for him. To RBPolo’s point, Stanford was getting him the ball in two meter and he was either scoring or drawing a kickout/five meter.
What I always have liked about his game is the ability to go outside and you saw this all the time at Harvard. Just an incredible transfer get for Stanford that paid huge dividends today.
All that matters is LMU has beaten Pepp twice. The polls are very flawed. Pepp vs UCSB is irrelevant to the Pepp LMU game. Furthermore, Pepperdine is 6-10. They have beaten 1 ranked team, UCSB. The story here is how over ranked they are.
I remember a pretty bad incident between UCSB and Pepp a few years ago where multiple UCSB players left the bench to hop in the pool in the brawl. Couple players were suspended, but this one sounds a lot worse if they ended the game.
playing the hand they have been dealt has gotten them to 6-10. How can they be #11? Rhetorical question. UCSB hasn’t necessarily been world beaters either. They got a ton of credit for beating SJSU, but as time goes by that win is less impressive. They beat LMU and LMU is clearly better than Pepp beating them twice. All this is a great example of why team 5 through whatever is great water polo drama this year.
Honestly play style and how teams match up are a huge factor in the 6-18 ranked teams. Then it comes down to execution. pep had advantages they failed to capitalize on today. Bad passes on an advantage will only come back to haunt you.
Yes, but a quick look shows SB played UCLA earlier in the day amd lost by 4 whereas LMU was crushed 24- 12 after UCLA jumped in the pool 45 minutes after the SB game.
