Davis is up 5-4 at the half. This is a very good game. Wes is right. Matters more than folks think with head to head being such an important seeding criteria for NCAAs.
Savic and McKeon are each playing great in the cage. Fordham needs to be a little crisper on offense.

Agreed. It is easy to overreact to these early season games. A lot of coaches are trying to determine rotations, goalies, etc. Players are coming off either intense early season training, or only 10 days together.
Lots of variables. I am just glad to see college and HS back in action.
Fordham up 8-7 late in the 3rd, and momentum seems to have shifted their way. Davis down to a single time out. Great game–and great goalie play by both teams.
Great game by Andras Toth and good way to rebound after not playing up to his standards against Pacific.
Better team play by Fordham, too. Passing and defense much improved.
13-10 Fordham is your final. Great win for the Rams. Looked much better against Davis than against Pacific. Savic was their best player. Kept them in the game with some nice saves.
Associate HC, Ilija definitely made a difference this game. He had the Fordham defense on a string - although both goalies were superlative today as well. Leyson is obviously a great coach, but Fordham coaches had just a little more today.
Fun watch and grateful to those California teams making the trip out East.

After a very difficult first four games, including games against USC and UCLA, Saint Mary’s won their first game this morning, beating Bucknell 12-9. Leo Hachem scored 6 goals for Saint Mary’s.
We are so rooting for them!
Some of my thoughts after rewatching the Davis Fordham game:
Davis needs to work on their 6 on 5. Every man up opportunity the ball is constantly touching the water. Every. Single. Pass.
The Davis drop defense was not good. So many exclusions as a result from Fordham setting the ball.
Davis offense overall needs work, they had a few lucky shots that came after or during dead plays where nothing was going for them.
Davis goalie played well. Kriesling stepped up when it mattered…
Fordham 6 on 5 was solid. They found the post a couple times after drawing the defense out.
Fordham is still not playing to their potential. You can tell that they are still finding their rhythm as it is early in the season.
Upon looking, Fordham’s schedule this year is better than most expected.
They play Long Beach end of September and these two teams always play it close. Corbin Stanley and Gabi Acosta should be able to do a ton of damage but will it be enough??
Another exciting game will be to watch Fordham vs Princeton. They play each other twice. Will the star power of Taylor Belle, Enrique Nuno, and Gavin Appeldorn be able to hold off the other star power of Toth, Provenziane, and Eppel? Both teams feature lefties that complement each other in Adam Peocz and Alessandro Salipante. Both very good players that can take over when their shooting is on point. Both goalies are tough to beat. Princeton will need its other players to step up and not leave the work to their star power…
Fordham’s last 2 games feature Cal and Stanford.
Imho, Cal vs Fordham could go either way. And tbh, I see Fordham taking it this year. However, Cal will have all the urgency to win the game because they will need to… I see them getting 4th in the conference. So will that factor be enough for them to win it? Will Dominic Brown and Kai Inoue say otherwise? They are a team that have several other players that can step up for them…
Against Stanford, I see the game starting close and then Stanford running away with it. Stanford has too much fire power this year…
While I’m at it I might as well include Otto Stothart in the Princeton trio to make it quad…
He is the brother of Ilias from Brown and just as good…
UCSD over Pepperdine 17-15 in overtime. Very competitive.
My biggest take away this weekend is that this Cal team is in trouble. UCSB gave them a run for their money and UCSD was down 1 with 3 minutes to go. Neither UCSB nor UCSD played particularly well in their matchups against Cal. UCSD was missing their best player in Landon Akerstrom. I wouldn’t use this weekend to judge where all the teams are gonna be by the end. Especially the non big 4 teams who had less training together over the summer, but I’d put money on Cal losing to a non big 4 team AT LEAST once this season. Haven’t seen UC Davis play yet, but I’d mark that game on the calendar.
Cal wasn’t playing their entire roster this weekend. Also, they spent a lot of time playing a heavy press, and didn’t compress into a zone as frequent as others.
