Harvard Westlake vs Buena 12:10. HW was leading the whole game.
Does anyone know the score of Thursday’s game between Oaks Christian and Newbury Park or Friday’s game between Oaks Christian and Calabasas?
You may already have your answer, but here’s my take. Short version: both teams are solid, but not on the level of the top programs and shouldn’t be in the top 25.
Righetti lost twice over the weekend, one was a double-digit loss to a strong Santa Margarita squad, and the other was to a team outside the top 25. Alameda is still undefeated, so we can’t point to any losses, but they did have a close call against a middle-tier College Park.
MaxPreps’ rankings can be strange. They often push Texas teams into the top 10 nationally, even when they likely wouldn’t crack the top 25 in California, and they tend to inflate rankings for teams that are undefeated regardless of opponent strength.
This might sound like I’m knocking these teams, but that’s not the intent, they’d all have crushed me and my high school team

Max Preps requires 5 games before you can be ranked in WP.
Texas starts early August so the rankings are tilted to those teams then it levels out mid September. Still terrible all year but they will be somewhat improved by next week.

My upset team in CCS is Los Gatos. They are a very good team with good athletes and coaches.
Senior James Faulhaber dropped 8 goals on Westlake. He’s an up-and-coming late-blooming senior center who plays a physical game.

Don’t sleep on Los Altos as well! They played Los Gatos to a one-goal game and lost to SRV by 2 goals in their second game of the season.
Menlo 20, Saint Ignatius 5. Sophomore center Hunter Coleman scored 9 goals and has now scored 45 goals in Menlo’s 1st 8 games.

SHP 15, JSerra 5. Oliver Marcin had 8 goals and Murdoch Baker-Matsuoska had 14 saves. Watch out for SHP this year. Marcin (Princeton) is the top center playing during this high school season; Clay Carrington
(Harvard) is the top LH attacker. Baker-Matsuoska is a top 3 or 4 goalie.
