They are both there now.
USA 35 - Mexico 7 and it wasn’t that close I’m afraid.
I’m only posting this here because, once again the reffing was bewildering.
I agree with you. He’s phenomenal and I don’t think he gets talked about as much (because he dosen’t go to a top high school!)
I think he will have an amazing career at Stanford and will be in the mix for an olympic goalie spot in 2032.
Rafa played very well in Portugal. He was unquestionably the #1 goalie.
A couple of border battles in the semifinals today: Brazil vs Argentina and USA vs Canada.
As expected USA vs Brazil in the Gold Medal Match today at 3:30pm PST.
Brazil won the first meeting a few days ago in a sudden death shootout; USA also played man-down for four minutes after a brutality.
We should be the heavy favorites here and I do expect a better performance from our guys. Our 6v5 was poor that game (6 of 18)and it looks like we’ve addressed that since then. We also missed a couple 5m’s as well.
The only potential fly in the ointment is the reffing. In that last game, it was somehow a case of both over-reffing and under-reffing at the same time!
Nonetheless, expect the atmosphere to also be like the last game between these two: a very loud and standing-room-only, pro-Brazil crowd!
This version of USA’s 19u squad is definitely not our best version, but should still win today’s game by 10+ goals. It shouldn’t be close.
The USA defeated Brazil 19-13 to win the gold medal at U19 PanAms. Reed Hanna was named player of the game.
Congrats to the young men and coaches on the win and bouncing back after the earlier loss to Brazil.
