Team USA should be strong. There are a few athletes who I would have given the nod to that didn’t make this list. Drake Hamilton and Hudson Koonings come to mind, but building around a core of Grayson Taylor and Aden Shin fresh off their warm-up training at U18 Worlds is a good start. I’m excited to see Cadet Team USA take on the world.
These athletes won’t be at JO’s?
That’s my understanding.
Coaches definitely have a game plan but what about Jack Davis? MVP defensive player in futures and total glue guy. I take that guy on my team any day
Interested in the make-up of this roster with 4 centers. I’ve seen them all play and each are good, with their own strengths and weaknesses. I could see this team start with traditional base offense, moving into double-post to break drops. The size could create matchup issues for other teams. Hoping our perimeter players don’t get trigger happy with the space they should have… be patient and keep working for center
Jack Davis for sure. That guy has what? 3 NJO gold medals? 4 NJO gold medals? He was on the Pan Am team a couple years ago that mercy-ruled every team they faced. If I were making the list, Jack Davis would not only be on it, he’d be a starter.
A quick comparison of rosters… 8 athletes who were selected to the Cadet (u17) PanAm team that competed in Colombia last summer will return to compete on this Cadet (u16) Worlds team.
It follows that 7 athletes who made that previous team have been replaced, including Jack Davis, mentioned above. Grayson Taylor and Harry Siafaris are obvious additions/replacements as they skipped Cadet PanAms last summer to train up with the Youth training group. The other 5 are generally younger (average of 10 months younger) than the athletes they replaced who traveled to Colombia. It will be interesting to see how these kids compete.
