Thread to discuss 16U Boys Junior Olympics
I think with Worlds kids missing for several countries and dozens of 16/18u double rosters this is one of the most wide open 16u tournaments in a while.
Any of 10 teams seem like they could be in the medal mix but I cant even attempt to predict an order…maybe after Day 1…
What happened to Kearns? The 4 seed losing to the 45?
Byproduct of North Irvine/Team Vegas doing well last JOs so MTN had the 4 seed.
This is why USAWP has to deal with Vegas/N Irvine/Mtn zone.
Patriot just beat SD Shores (#1 seed). Good game.
Now that we are two days in which clubs does everyone think have been impacted most by cadet worlds? Seems like La premier to me with them missing their big center, not sure if they are missing others…
My pick for the most impacted would be SD Shores or SD Dons. Shores is missing scoring phenom Aden Shin and Liam Zarcu. The Dons are missing arguably the top16u center in the country, Grayson Taylor, and Cortez Chavez.
Very impacted (SD Shores) but so well coached. He puts up with no bs and is the best at talking to the refs through the players. If they had one of those two kids they would cruise through until they played Newport IMHO. Their loss to Patriot was an anomaly.
Shores replaced 2 of their missing athletes with Hungarians so it’s hard to define the impact of the missing players in a vacuum. Dons did not.
Agreed. I don’t know how a loss gets claimed as “anomaly” (per comment above) if they restacked their team.
All of the top programs lots players. Stanford could have Hunter Coleman but he is at worlds (would have played 18’s). In the end Stanford won. Congrats.
Them winning without Coleman is impressive. Was Berkeley missing anyone?
They had some kids go back to 680 a while ago but no one at Worlds according to talking with some of their parents on deck.
Berkeley played with 8 field players and a goalie for much of the summer. Impressive.
Is Berkeley going to stay together next year?
