2026 Girls' 16U World Championships

Uhhh

Maybe injured?

Given the team’s outside shooting that would be insane to not have that shooter in the pool.

Not injured. The USA team always brings an “extra” athlete (15 when the limit of “dressed out” athletes is 14) to these things. Curious if other countries do the same or if this is a USA special. Nonetheless, the USA’s sole lefty was sat out for that game…

Are you sure? Roster for USA for Hungary and New Zealand games was the same. No way a coach sits the same player twice back to back, that’s unheard of.

Unfortunately, that appears to be the case here.

I can’t speak to this particular instance but yes most teams will bring 15 at international tournaments

And often times it’s the same person who does not dress up.

each coach has her/his own style.

A lefty completely changes the dynamic on offense, especially on 6v5 and especially one who can shoot.

Unheard of? From what I’ve seen on both the men’s and women’s sides, including the senior national teams, it’s actually pretty common for the same player or players to sit multiple games during a tournament.

It’s hard to know the reasoning without being on the staff, but the head coach of this group is one of the best we have and has quite a bit of international experience at all levels. I’m sure there were factors behind the decision that those of us on the outside aren’t aware of.

Evidence? I’ve been following pipeline teams for a decade and can’t recall cadet or youth not rotating the dry player, injury excluded.

Not sure your goal on this one. Just providing what I have witnessed and seen following along over the years.

They did last year at the U15 PanAm games.
