Here is the roster for the United States team that will participate in next month’s Women’s World Cup:
From 2000 through 2021, the U.S. women’s teams had an embarrassment of riches at the center position, with Heather Moody, Ellen Estes, Moriah Van Norman, Lauren Wenger (also a world-class center defender), Annika Dries, Kami Craig, Melissa Seidemann (perhaps the greatest center defender in women’s water polo history as well), and Aria Fischer.
To win the gold medal in 2028, the United States will need stronger, more consistent center play than it received in 2024.
