Here’s how I see the 18s weekend play out.

Top 2 teams in D1: Newport and Dons go 3-0

Top 2 teams in 1/2 Crossover: La Jolla, N Irvine go 3-0

I see on the sheet that Olympus did in fact jump up and upset Aetos this afternoon. Really surprised after they needed a shootout win this morning. I still expect Aetos to bounce back tomorrow. For D1/2 I am about 50/50.

So it sounds like Olympus may be a non-California players all star team playing under Olympus club name. Several kids on roster from other Zones and Canada and they asked GOLS to change their team name from Olympus to “NO"CAL

I heard that too. I think thats pretty cool and to compete with no practice time is impressive. I like the name.

As I expected, I was kinda bad at this.

For D1/2 I got 50% right, 75% if you count my hedge statement with LA Premier. Missing La Jolla seems like a miss I should not have made.

For D2/3 I also got 50%. I did hedge Sand Canyon/Olympus winner surprising here so 75% with that hedge.

For D3/4 another 50% correct.

Not very good. La Jolla being the biggest miss that I shouldn’t have made.

if possible WPpops could you list the teams that went up or down a division, I am not sure where to find it

Here is my interpretation based on the spreadsheet so take it as that until Futures confirms.

Move down from D1/2 crossovers, so will be D2:

Rose Bowl, Vanguard, Greenwich, Foothill A

Move Up from D 2/3 crossover, so will also be D2:

Olympus, Carlsbad, South Coast, Aetos, Supreme

Move down from D 2/3 crossover and will be D3:

SET, Shore Aquatics, Sand Canyon, OCWPC, Commerce, Patriot

Move up from D 3/4 crossover and will be D3:

SoCal B, Santa Barbara, Trojan Gold, Rancho Tsunami.

Any guesses on upsets for this weekend. I am guessing Greenwich and Sand Canyon move up.

The C group appears to be stronger than the D group. After the first three games in each group, the top team automatically moves up. Then the matchups are C2 vs. D3 and D2 vs. C3. Greenwich has two very strong teams, possibly the strongest in 16U, that may not have been fully focused during the first weekend, e.g., playing with their 14U. Sand Canyon and Greenwich might fight in the final game on Sunday for the D1 ticket.

Against 1/16 odds, Greenwich indeed faced off against Sand Canyon, ultimately securing a 22–17 victory. Congratulations to the teams promoted to D1: CIU, Vanguard, Carlsbad, and Greenwich.

It is worth noting a significant strength imbalance between the groups; every team in Group C won their crossover match against Group D.

Nice prediction! CIU was not promoted, they remained. I am curious about them. Were they missing players week 1, or maybe brought people back? They were not competitive in 3 of the 4 games week 1 and the only close game was with a team that just got demoted. Two of the crossovers were 1 goal games, but teams not fielding competitive teams in a given week can really throw things off the next if the prior weeks results impact seeding the next week.
