Hi All, based on the Cadet Schedule, I think Games 8 & 19 have the wrong Dark Cap Win#s.
Game 8 should be C1 Pac Red vs Win4 (not 5)
Game 19 should be D1 Spa Red vs Win5 (not 6)

Good luck to all these brave and committed athletes.
A post was split to a new topic: 2025 Girlsā ODP
When will full rosters for all the zones be listed?
Two things are certain in life: that the sun appears to rise in the east and that Joe asks about rosters every five days or so ![]()
Now seriously: USA Water Polo typically releases rosters about 5-7 days before the ODP Championship. I do not know if they intend to do it this year but my guess would be Yes.
The Boys ODP Championship schedule has been posted.

Boys ODP Schedule
Am I reading the Youth bracket correctly to show that the #4 seeds have no chance to be top 8?
You are correct in your conclusion.
Hmmm. If the seeding is based on prior yearās finishes, that seems unproductive.
Respectfully, Iām not sure I agree. Years back ODP had the usual brackets, but the resulting 1-4 ranked games were generally 25-2 drubbings that didnāt help anyone. The odds of SPA Red losing to Mountain, for example, are sufficiently low to justify replacing that likely meaningless game with a different one, even though that admittedly means that MTN will not end up at Nos. 1-8. In even the usual type of bracket, the virtually inevitable loss in that first group game would mean the same thing anyway, so why not give them an extra game thatās more meaningful.
I would have changed the entire format. Maybe there is some regional rivalry that makes these games interesting, but I would have switched to a draft format where coaches select 16 teams of roughly equal strength. This would make the entire weekend more competitive. Currently, the only close games usually start at the semifinals on the third day. A draft format would also give strong individuals from outside the four zones an opportunity to play in competitive matches.
Iām not asking for 1 v 4 drubbings. Nobody wants that. But if 4 beats 2, they should get a chance. The 4s could play each other first with the winner moving into a 3 team bracket. Iām no bracketologist, just something to offer to the zones who already think the deck is stacked against them.
agree there should be format change. i bet a team compiled of unpicked kids from sopac with a good club coach would do well in the current format. or at least better than the 4s
Polames,
This could easily be the case. But the best 2-3 players in the pool in such a game would be from a zone outside of CA. If we accept that the main purpose of the ODP program is to develop elite talent, it makes much more sense to have, say, SEZ or MNT team than SOPAC C team at the Championship.
The format for Cadet and Dev with 18 teams looks fine- theoretically every team could win the championship. The Youth format has only 16 teams.
Used to be what Futures was before it expanded massively.
Rosters have been posted on USA Water Polo.
I will save people the jenga of trying to find on their website. Sure wish they fixed search on that thing.
Interesting. The full DOB instead of Birth Year in the evaluation rosters does not appear to be accidental but rather a decision that has carried over to the public posting.
