When 3 or 4 of Newport starters are transfers, and more are sitting and rotating in, it’s hard to keep calling the program one that develops strictly local talent. Over the past two-plus years, they’ve brought in as many—if not more—transfers than many private schools, and it doesn’t look like that trend is slowing down anytime soon.
That’s correct but keep in mind that was Shores 16U team. The Bishop’s 18’s were playing in Quicksilver under Shores 18’s. The other club team in this tournament was Seaside who was not only playing their 18’s but also girls headed to D1 colleges next month as well as some foreign players.
I don’t think anyone was criticizing the performance, but just pointing out that the team was not a “Bishops” team. My understanding is the roster is made up of about 50% Bishop’s girls, 5-ish other local high schools, an import from the East Coast for the summer and an import from Hawaii who has played off and on for Shores in the summers. I don’t think the 18u team that played in Quicksilver was exclusively Bishops, either. In fact, I only think a couple of them play for Bishops.
