What are your Predictions for the up incoming club season happening with futures and other tournaments going
The most intriguing team is going to be SOCAL. Hearing they are getting seniors from JSerra, CDM, etc.
@Polodemon22 – thank you for initiating the thread. I change the name to follow previous years’ naming.
@JFranPolo I heard that there will be two Super Sr. Teams, North Irvine and Socal. Is this still the case? Will Newport play with their seniors this year?
I’m not sure all of the CDM seniors will join SoCal. I think the boys are waiting to see who joins which team and what Newport decides to do before making their decision. I also don’t think Newport will be a top three or even top five team without their key seniors. My assumption is that Newport will structure two teams, 16U and 18U, as they did in 2024, in order to remain competitive for first place.
Will Santa Margarita have their own club this year? If so expect an impact to SoCal 18U.
As a reference for the likely strength of the U18 in 2026, these were the final placing of the 16U in 2024:
Interesting is that Lamorinda is missing from the top 16.
I heard vangaurd may also be getting some seniors for there 18u team
What I heard thus far is that SOCAL holdovers from Foothill HS (Porter Birdsall, John Berghstedt, Logan Hetland (OLU) will join up with Connor Colman, Jonas Ransford, Nathan Simoncelli, Bryan Shapirsteyn, Aidan Sexton, and possibly some Newport seniors (Ohl, Slutsky, Netzer, Dash D’Ambrosia, Tyler Anderson, and Kai Kaneko. However, Kaneko, Anderson, and Ohl will have National Team responsibilities as well. Kane Fogg and Wyatt Williamson are possibly joining as well.
In previous years, Ross has kept most of his senior standouts, but that may change this season. He will have a very young team next year at Newport with no seniors.
In addition, I heard Ivan Buich will probably start his own club team for Santa Margarita–thus, SOCAL will lose junior Logan McGaan and sophomore Tanner Gorman. Not sure if senior Evan Wu will return to SOCAL or help next year’s Santa Margarita team.
There are a lot of unknowns right now. Between Newport and CDM alone you’re talking about a massive number of seniors — Traditionally, most top programs don’t keep their seniors for the final spring season — guys usually scatter to SoCal, North Irvine.
I’m sure a lot of them would love to stay together for one “final final,” but until the spring structure and tournament changes are confirmed, it’s anyone’s guess how the teams will actually shake out.
The bigger wild card is the spring structure itself. There are rumors of new tournaments, college teams entering NL with their club teams, new league formats, and even additional 18U events being added or reshuffled. Until that’s officially announced, predicting who will play where — or who will be the favorite — is impossible.
If Newport’s seniors stay together, of course they’ll be contenders. Same with any group of top CDM or JSerra seniors that stays intact. But right now everything is speculative, from player movement to tournament formats.
Once the spring calendar and league changes are confirmed, everyone will have a much clearer picture.
It would be fantastic if the Newport Seniors could complete the year together under the Newport program. Even though it seems like a long shot based on historical data, there’s a chance this class might get an exception.![]()
That first group will join SoCal or another team?
Does anyone know when futures brackets come out ?
Aren’t they based on last years finish?

Does not look like. I saw the SoCal 18U divisions, but not sure the info is public yet. I don’t think Pride is sending a team this year While some teams that did not send 18U teams last year are participating this year, e.g., CDM, AETOS (Santa Margarita), CIU, and Greenwich.
any one know if locations have been finalized for the first weekends of 18U and 16U futures? if so, can you please share?
I believe they are staying with Newport if I am not mistaken
What is the next big tournament to see where each top club is mid club season?
Does anyone have a schedule for Newport Invite this weekend?
Still working on seeding.
