National League 2026

Last year started first week of February! Let’s hope there is expansion with some Norcal college teams. Davis, Cal, Stanford, UOP?

Yes, lets hope it keeps growing! I know some teams will start prepping after the Christmas break.

Same I hope this year northern colleges will have their clubs join to make this even more competitive and fun season. I would think it will start early February.:crossed_fingers::oncoming_fist:t3:

Overnght will most certainly stream the league
Teams and schedule will be announced once fully finalized, id assume after the holiday break in early to mid January.

Is National League in lieu of Futures for these teams, or can teams/club play both?

Most of them are doing both.

What I’ve heard is the top 18u teams are playing national league and not futures and are even able to cross over with the masters league if record is good enough.

Having seen the Futures teams they are mostly doing both. Not all but the overwhelming majority so not sure where that is coming from unless it is from a player perspective. There are no conflicts in the schedule.

I see many teams listed on both, National League and Futures.

I would imagine most teams would send their competitive A squad to Nationals and mixed squads to Futures! Both tournaments will be fun and should compliment each other, the more games everyone plays the better they will get!

Is there a list of teams published somewhere?

Yes definitely for the 20 teams playing. How did they get the invite? What is it based on?

Does anyone know who owns and manages the National League? Is it USA Water Polo or a private enterprise ?

From the USA Water polo article above….so it reads like USA Water Polo and Tom Davis is the commish.

“The 2026 National League marks a defining moment for water polo in the United States,” said Tom Davis, USA Water Polo Men’s National League Commissioner. “By expanding the league, introducing regional conferences and fully integrating elite 18U competition, we are creating a unified ecosystem that develops athletes, strengthens clubs and elevates the sport across multiple levels. This structure allows our best young players to train and compete alongside top collegiate and senior athletes, while giving fans a consistent, high-quality product across.”“

Just noticed a post on social media that Holos Law Group just sponsored the National League to offer $25K in prize money for the top 3 teams in the championship. Great to see a little bit of change thrown around. Hopefully more follow, would love to see it at 100K to make it more exciting.
