Legacy Crown Championship: Nov. 15-16 (Costa Mesa)

The schedule for the inaugural Legacy Crown Championship is out. Competition this past weekend for the prelims was great and this coming weekend should give us a nice preview of the upcoming season.

You can view the updates live at: Legacy Crown - USA Water Polo

What happened to the Olympic Clubs team?

Not sure, but it looks like USA Academy is bringing a third team (USA White) that is replacing the Olympic Club.

Does that mean defending NCAA champion vs 9th graders in first round? And I thought Champions Cup day 1 was rough

Correct USAWP Blue team is the Cadet NT which is 14- and 15-year-olds.

Is it really? How do you think that will play out? :face_with_monocle: Is there a roster?

Sounds like a great way to learn and get better against some of the players you look up to.

Awesome opportunity for the pipeline teams to test their mettle. As a point of clarification only, I believe cadets are 2010 and below this cycle, so it’s age 15 and under this weekend (10th grade and below) on that team and the oldest eligible athletes could turn 16 in January. Youth would be 2008 and below.

Dumbest thing ever. I was told the Olympic Team was very viable and made up of HS girls and a few recent grads.

If the Olympic Club team truly consisted of HS girls that aren’t part of the Academy, then it would look like a JO club team and not the right entry for this tournament with mainly college teams and masters club teams (NYAC and LAAC).

Having the Youth Academy team entered makes sense, they were competitive in the prelims. I assumed the blue and red teams were just a split of the entire Youth team. The white team is likely the Cadet team and perhaps a last minute addition once they learned about the makeup of the Olympic Club (if it was rostered with mostly HS girls).

Just to clear this up — Aren’t all of the Academy teams are made up of high school girls U18-youth A & B and, so was the Olympic Club team. If it makes sense for the Academy to compete with HS age players, shouldn’t the same apply to Olympic Club? They’re all in the same general age group, just representing different programs within the same competitive structure. What makes less sense to me is pitting 15 and under’s up against 20 year old’s and former Olympians.

The Olympic Club is not made up of high schoolers??

Joe, this was a team that Olympic Club put together entered for this tourney.

Do you have a roster?

The Olympic Club
Cassidy Ball
Avery Boone
McKenna Bygrave
Aviana Caviola
Ciara Franke
Ava Grandinetti
Georgia Gilmore
Juliana Horton
Lotte Lightner
Farren Moss
Nicole O’Neil
Jade Pattison
Fiona Salatka
Aileen Shin

lol. Olympic Club (SF) has a lot of SoCal high school girls! but makes sense that SoCal high school girls make up most of roster as a lot of top NorCal high school girls will be in section finals this weekend.

Well Cathy Nueshul was set to coach the team.

These are the USA Teams (…until there are changes  )

Due to Olympic Club dropping out of the tournament we have entered another USA Team. The designation of teams is listed below:

· USA Red = Youth Academy A Team

· USA White = Youth Academy B Team

· USA Blue = Cadet Academy Team

Seeding is as follows (…until there are changes  ):
