I don’t have roster information at this point. It will be interesting to see if any of the college kids get pulled into the team USA rosters…my guess is probably not…
I understand have the U18 kids playing is probably considered a walkover by Stanford and UCLA, but for the good of the women’s sport of water polo I applaud the idea and it will only make those girls better. Other countries are catching up to and passing the USA…
The college kids will play with their college teams. The USA rosters will consist of 2008 or younger national team/academy players. Any national team players born in 2007 or later (and still in HS) will play with one of the Masters club teams. That’s why you saw some of them listed with the Olympic Club roster that was shared. But these kids are not allowed to suit up in the matches against the college teams because of some NCAA rule. At least, that was the case with the prelims last weekend.
What happened to Katrina Drake a UCLA alum being on the NYAC team? I saw a few posts last month showing her capped up for NYAC. Did more experienced players decide they wanted to participate and Katrina was bumped?
Anyone have rosters for the USA teams playing this weekend? I tried to find the USA Youth Roster on the usawp website, but can only find the 2024 roster. (And the only other roster views are 2019/20 and 2017–is that right?)
A great weekend of Water polo! I’m looking forwards to future iterations…
Not sure this is a full indicator for the women’s season with some missing players and effort to get ALL of the roster involved - a let’s see what we got pre-season tournament. Stanford seems to be a half-step or step above everyone else, but parity seemed to rule the day.
