It’s now Wednesday-and nothing for the girls!!!

I do feel like it goes back to a post I made earlier about the disparity between Men’s/Boy’s and Women’s/Girl’s Water Polo.

If we are just simply looking at a timeline, the boys got their schedule emailed on July 8th (using my email as a reference), 11 days before the start of their JOs. We are now 8 days away from Session II and nothing for the girls except today is the last day to make roster changes for the fee.

Can we expect the release in 3 hours? The next 24 hours? Boys teams were given a week and a half to look at their schedules and make travel arrangements. The girls, at best, a week?

I may be over reading the situation and happy to admit I am of many feel that way, but it’s kind of hard to not notice a trend when it comes to treatment(?), priority(?) of MWP and WWP.

May I ask, what is a big deal? The schedule will be released this week - we all know it.
I assume that incoming Session 1 takes away some time/resources. If you want more parity, you might advocate for alternating Boys and Girls sessions at the JO (say, odd years boys start first and girls start at even years) but I do not say much value in this. On a positive side, girls have some extra days to practice

The additional practice is good. My big thing is just noticing a trend in treatment I guess.

But with that being said, our boys team had plenty of time to cancel rooms at their hotel as the pool sites for our teams is actually 20 min away from where we live and not in the OC.

I don’t know if the delay in schedule will impact those families who could cancel their hotels as they won’t be driving into the deep OC and will be staying closer to home this JOs.

That’s just my concern is that it seemed like the release made it easier for families to adapt their travel plans and for the girls not so much.

agree with this, and work schedules!

Anyways, I am happy to admit maybe I am a little sensitive to the issue and it’s not that big of a deal.

Now back to waiting on the schedules!

Ditto on the work schedules!

polo86,

Most hotel reservations are either non-refundable or can be cancelled with a 2-5 days notice. I assume that the schedules will be released by Friday. If this is the case, the damage caused by a potential delay should be pretty small/negligible.

The correct question, perhaps, is why girls schedules have not been released a bit earlier. I doubt it has anything to do with gender. My guess is that USA Water Polo people might be busy with preparations for Session 1. Could they do their job more efficiently? Maybe, but I have no clue about the amount of work, the number of people involved etc. The easiest solution at this stage might be to alternate who starts first. OK, OK, I am sure that another way to solve this is to make USA Water Polo more efficient - good luck with it

Appreciate the feedback. And honestly, you are 100% correct and I’m bringing my biases into these arguments. Appreciate the back and forth and hoping for a great JOs over the next week and a half.

Also can’t wait for the threads to blowup about the officiating :joy:

This is purely speculation on my part, but there may be something with the session 2 schedule that USAWP is rethinking. With session 1, the Team Vegas stuff gets down to 14u. With session 2, there is or was a Team Vegas - SOPAC team younger than that.

We will know if that team still exists as a JO entry when the session 2 schedule is released.

Also, I am told, 12U girls have 55 (?) entries in the Championship division. I would love to see the bracket for that age group

There is also an entry by Team Vegas for SoCal in 12 U boys Classic. It may just be a merger of teams

Better! Swapped for this first time. Now how about some schedules.

I’m convinced USAWP staff are keeping tabs on this forum.

I love a good conspiracy theory. But of course, if a USA Water Polo staffer is faced with two options, namely a) switch the order of Sessions every other year and b) become more efficient at work, the right bureaucratic solution is to choose the former

How I imagine the scenario played out

Well well well. They acted fast.

This can easily be remembered as Joes first ask for the 2026 schedule. More to come.
