Early bet is on Newport, Sinclair knows how to win the big one. Oaks will have a good game plan though and if their goalie and lefty play like they did against MD then they have a shot

Wow! What a crazy night of girls water polo. As said before, the parity this year was like no other. This is great for the sport. Congrats to Newport and Oaks Christian!
I think the development of Newport’s bench is coming along well and it is ultimately why they will have the edge over Oaks this Saturday. Should be a great game.

Wow. Major upsets! Great games for sure! The 2 highly favorited teams go down. It goes to show anything can happen on any given night!
Oaks and Newport have played 3 times. The split the first two games by 1 goal and Newport handled Oaks relatively easily in the Newport Invite semi-final.
Oaks 11 - Newport 10 on Dec. 6 at Oaks
Newport 7 - Oaks 6 on Jan. 5 at CDM
Newport 12 - Oaks 7 on January 25 at Foothill HS
Both teams are well coached and peaking at the right time but Newport is very deep. Should be a great game with 2 teams and 2 coaches who know each other very well.

Look. Oaks has a very strong group of starters but minimal depth. They can’t afford any foul trouble, and they struggle in 5 game tournaments against the teams with two or three waves of girls. Hence the 12-7 loss in the Newport Invite Semi. But if it’s 1 game and done I would absolutely not count out Oaks in this final. If Oaks can stay out of foul trouble this game is pick-em.

Congrats to Oaks Christian!!! What an amazing season and run.
Ya congrats to Oaks Christian. They had a solid defensive game plan, goalies made big saves, and got fortunate with some bar outs. Their lefty played well offensively and idk the name/number but another player hit a big outside shot man up with about 2 min left to ice it.
Newport definitely had their chances on offense. Got blocked on a penalty and a couple bar outs hurt. They had the momentum in 4th after being down like 3, cutting it to 1 with three min left, then got an exclusion and RS called timeout which felt like it stopped the momentum. Not criticizing his call but just pointing out how the momentum seemed to stop and then they didn’t score. Hard choice for the coach to let them play or try and control it more
Either way congrats to both teams on upsetting the top seeds and making it to the finals and playing a great game.

Great game to watch. Is the Oaks goalie from Canada? I seemed to hear parents saying they recruited her from there. The lefty was phenomenal again. Great win for Jack and the school.
Yes the Oaks goalie was one of their goalies at the U16 World Champs over the summer. Definitely a huge difference maker for them…Nicole O’Neill is also from Canada originally so I wonder if that is the connection maybe?
Great job to Oaks and Kocur, their game plan was phenomenal in these 2 games!
well there you have it. Everything that comes out of Canada is great. Great Maple syrup. Great Beer. Great Hockey players. And now, great waterpolo players. Did I mention great hockey players ?
