I agree with this ranking list - I do think Foothill is better than Laguna. If they play 10 times, I think Foothill wins 8 or 9 times but Laguna beat them at the Newport Invite and likely should be ranked ahead of them going into the CIF’s. My list would be as follows:
The ranking of some of these teams don’t match reality - algo rankings! CDM is not better than Foothill, LB Wilson, or even #13 Laguna (IMHO). LB Wilson should be higher and Laguna should be much higher. Here’s to hoping the CIFSS uses some discretion in choosing the seeds for the playoffs.
If this is dated 01/24, it won’t include last nights game between OLU and MD, which OLU won. Even though I believe MD deserves that #1 spot due to winning all three of the big tournaments this year, their ratings on this list are so close, that the OLU victory might put them ahead of MD.
Palos Verdes is 24-0. Not sure who they played this year, but I kinda doubt they want to sneak into those top 8 spots

OK so those ratings don’t include the New]port Invite or the Irvine Championships where Long Beach Wilson went undefeated.
In the Newport Invite, all teams played 5 games against tough competition so those ratings could move a bit. Bishops last all 5 of their games, but they are not in CIFSS, so that won’t affect these rankings
Bummer for Los Alamitos girls team, had to forfeit 6 games and are unable to play in CIF due to coach not sitting out the game after a red card. Current ranking is 16th, would have been in the mix for division 1.
Such an unfortunate situation. I hate to see kids punished when adults don’t pay attention to or choose not to follow the rules. Parent’s should not have to step in to question the admin and coach but sometimes you have to in order to protect the kids from ignorance. In all levels of water polo, a red card to the coach is followed by a suspension. Do not allow your kids coach to jeopardize the hard work you kids have put in!

Come on Coach, you have to know the rules. This is why you also have assistant coaches.

Unfortunately they haven’t played anybody ranked higher than 20 from what I can see. They did beat San Marcos but it was their jv team. Still undefeated so you have to give them credit.
If the above rankings are accurate, how does a team like Bolsa Grande jump up 3 ratings points and 60 spots and land in div3, when they only have 2 extra wins since? They are rewarded for a great season by being placed in a division that will eat them alive. What the heck happened with the rankings?
wow some strange movements since 1/24 seems like the computer choked!.
Thousand Oaks was ranked 51st, got beat by the 73rd ranked Carpinteria after 1/24. Now TO jumped to D1 (top 24) and Carpinteria got boosted to D2. NO way does any of that make sense, congrats to both teams for the giant leap.

Both Calabasas and Thousand Oaks in D1…historically they have never been above D4. This whole thing is a joke.
So the trail to the Finals in Open, no longer has a semi final as they had published about 1 week ago.
Now it just says, winner of pool A vs winner of pool B, in the finals on 22nd
So there is not really any elimination games. I really liked the format that polo86 got from the CIF site and posted it here

I would say it’s between Laguna and JSerra for D1.
However…
Beckman is a great team and their time is coming. Greet program and only getting better. JSerra beat Beckman first game (without 4 players) and Beckman beat Laguna in futures.
San Clemente has to get through Beckman and Laguna to reach finals. They don’t have same talent as last year and lost a good one to a transfer. Not going to be easy.
JSerra has been short their goalie and 3 field players all year but all back now. I look for them to make a run.
Palos Verde will fall and needs to strengthen their games next year.

An email was sent out saying that there was an error in how the forfeits were being calculated in the rankings. They are hoping to have everything recalibrated and posted by tomorrow morning.
