It will be very telling to see how this team performs in Australia. I am interested to see Coach Krikorian’s game plan and lineups. Lots of talent, but the loss of some of the leaders will be hard to replace.

Good start for the women. Glad to see Ausmus tally 4 goals. She is going to have to play a very important role if this team is going to do well.

Are these games streamed somewhere/somehow live?

Never mind, just saw that it will be streamed live at what looks like 11:15 pm PT on Saturday

Yes available on Peacock and the announcer for the semifinals was fun to listen to!

Big congrats to USA Women on winning gold!

Amanda Longan was great in goal. A little susceptible to lobs sometimes but she had some amazing saves and played really well.

Emily Ausmus was stellar. Scoring on the counter and deadly shooter when up 6 v 5. Crushing it in college and now continuing it at the national level.

Nice to have Paige H back. Can shoot and very long arms that make a big impact defensively. Also fast and made an impact on our counter.

USA women also had a lot of shot blocks. Love to see it.

I agree with all of those points.

Emily was dominant at last summer’s World Championships, where we finished fourth. She then followed that up by earning MVP honors at the Junior World Championships while leading the U.S. to the gold medal.

Today, she was simply outstanding going a perfect 6-for-6 shooting while also drawing a penalty. It was one of the most complete and efficient individual performances I’ve seen at that level in a very long time. Great team win and really fun watching this group perform at such a high leve.

Congratulations to the Women’s team! The team played well throughout the tournament and Ausmus performed at an elite level. It was very fun to watch.

Great first step toward the goal of winning Gold in Los Angeles!

Swimcoach, earlier in the thread you wondered what Coach Krikorian’s game plan would be and I think we kinda saw a plan develop. “Give the ball to Emily” :squinting_face_with_tongue:

All kidding aside, I stayed up and watched the game and the girls played great, on offense and defense. So many field blocks against a team that has a lot of great outside shooters.

Amanda LOgan was super solid in the cage.

And yes ,I am a little biased, but all the girls with a SOCAL Waterpolo influence, Emily Ausmus, Rachel Fatal, Rachel Gazzaniga and Tara Prentice all had a hand in the victory, and we are super proud of them

Yes, Emily Ausmus did exactly what this team needed. She is a phenomenal player and really took it up a notch in this tournament. With the loss of a couple of key players, I was wondering who was going to step up and fill those shoes, especially in the scoring department. Well, she answered that question!

I still think that the team needs to get more production out of their centers, but that is a discussion for another time.

There are still 2 years to go before the Olympics but I’m curious about the roster. Are Maggie Steffens, Ashleigh Johnson, and Maddie Musselman Woepse likely to play? If Johnson doesn’t play, who is likely to be the 2nd goalie behind Amanda Longan? Isabel Williams, Christine Carpenter, Lauren Steele, or someone else?
