Original stories about every NCAA Water Polo game ![]()
Does the NCAA put this out after each weekends round of games?
I do it. Stories are written, posted and tweeted out after each game is done.
Congratulations to UC Davis for beating UC Irvine on Senior Day
What was flagged now??
This week’s CWPA poll:
2026 Women’s Varsity Polls – Week 7/March 4 - Collegiate Water Polo Association
Arizona State gave Cal a very good game last week, losing by one goal. This may be Arizona State’s best team since 2021. Arizona State plays UCI this weekend.
Stanford plays at UCLA this weekend. Stanford beat UCLA by one goal earlier in the year. Anna Pearson earned 7 exclusions in that game. To beat Stanford, UCLA needs to convert a higher percentage of its 6-on-5 opportunities than it did in the last game.
I don’t know why my post was flagged, maybe because I copied and pasted a link from another channel? The post was just to help spread the word about the Water Polo Wednesday podcast and encourage fans on this channel to subscribe if they aren’t already subscribers and watch it. Wes and Clay have a good pulse on water polo and are fun to listen to! If you need the link to the podcast, see the Water Polo Wednesday channel.
Agree that Wes and Clay deserve as much marketing and promotion as they can get
If nothing else, they are trying to highlight the sport at its best and grow it both within and beyond the community
Grateful for what they do
I am guessing due to it being duplicative, but could be wrong. Maybe the WPW thread should be in the general category since it covers so much, and well done IMO. I think we all see every category on here anyway.
Outside of the top 3, it presently looks like who finishes #4 is up for grabs between Cal/Hawaii/ASU. And there sure is A LOT of parity between the teams ranked #7 to #22!
I think that Cal has the clear advantage over Hawaii and ASU for the #4 ranking at this point.
They are 2-0 against Hawaii with the scores being 14-9 and16-8. Hawaii will get another shot at them next week, but I am not sure if an upset win will push them past Cal. IMHO, Hawaii will need to win the Big West to make the NCAAs.
As noted earlier, ASU lost to Cal 11-10 in their own pool. I think that they will need to meet up with Cal and defeat them in the MPSF tournament if they have a chance at the final at-large bid.
There is still a lot of water polo left in the season so a few upsets could create some chaos, but so far, none of the current top 6 teams have lost to a team ranked below them.
Good point re: Cal. Also forgot they are hosting MPSF champs. They did look vulnerable @ UCD Feb 8th (13-12 win down to the wire). Eszter Varro didn’t play, but UCD didn’t have Bridget Miller either.
Does anyone have the full schedule for the sdsu tourney next weekend? I believe they play at ucsd as well? Appreciate it. Hard to find it all on Google.
Stanford 10, UCLA 9. Flynn and Dhalluin scored 7 of Stanford’s 10 goals. Pearson drew 7 exclusions for UCLA.
ASU 16, UCI 9
LMU 10, Princeton 8
Cal 22 SJSU 10
The game was not that close, freshman goalie Nelson subbed in Q4
UCLA game was a barnburner. 6 of 9 goals were scored by Newport Harbor alumni.
I didn’t see the penalty miss at the end of the game…goalie save or missed opportunity?
First penalty miss attempted to go over Carpenter’s shoulder and bar out. Second penalty miss was blocked. Both teams were poor on 6v5. Stanford especially so and really could have pulled away if they converted even a third of their chances. Will be exciting to watch them play a few more times this year. Only a few shooters on each team seem confident against these top notch goalies.
UOP takes down UCDAVIS by 1….man!!
Bad loss for them…but great for UOP to bump them up the rankings
…and now make that twice nice wins in a row for UOP… 15-14 over SJSU in OT yesterday!
Just saw that UofM HC resigned….Sami takes over as new HC.
