Aetos definitely deserves to be there. Our boys were playing in the game after Aetos and SD Shores who are #1. Aetos were up by 2 with one minute left in the game. Shores somehow managed to take them to a very long shootout with last minute heroics and Aetos lost. But as previously stated Aetos was missing their top 2 players. It seemed all the big names from Shores were in the pool, but I am not sure. Also looks like Greenwich needed a shootout to beat them. Aetos seem to run hot and cold, but definitely a top team.
Yeah, Iām not trying to be harsh on Aetos here at all so I hope it isnāt coming across that way. They actually deserved to be in the D2 bracket based on performance the first 4 weeks. They were only in that bracket due to Greenwich no showing again and they were given the spot. So I use that as the background.
I believe it is widely known they have a really good team. Not just two players. However, they have two national team level players so saying without them they likely wouldnāt have even gotten to the ā11ā spot seems like a fair assumption. Especially considering they got to 11 either way those two guys. So for them to be moved up and not have those two and beat a team like Newport by 5 is telling about how many guys were missing this week.
Again, I like Aetos. But it is clear that any team losing their two national team guys are not the same. Unless you have 5-6 national team guys.
Does anyone know if Super Finals will be the same format as last year? i.e. the top 8 seeded teams competing against each other, rather than playing lower-seeded teams like JOs.
I have not heard, but having D1/2/3 helps prevent it from being as big of a gap like JO for the first 2 rounds. I am guessing we wonāt hear much until NorCal Futures wraps up.
I bet with the strange finishes this past week that they change it from last year.
What I donāt understand, though there is likely a rationale for it, is why the 5th week is scheduled so close to the 4th, yet so far from the Super Finals at the end of June. Why not move the 5th weekend to the end of May, after the National League, NTSC, and Academy sessions are wrapped up?

In essence, nothing related to qualifiers prevented the 5th futures weekend from being scheduled in the third weekend of May for the 16/18u age group.
Any major tournament / invite?
Anyway, hopefully to be considered next year.

Iām confused are you asking for the fifth weekend to be held at the end of May or the middle of May.
Weekend 5 for the 16U boys lands on May 16/17th
18u boys SoCal were last week and NorCal this week.
