Edited on February 21 to add the athletes from Hawaii.

A whole ten athletes from San Diego Section?

Is there a link / website ?

Thanks!

By contrast, the Acalanes high school district (two schools represented) has eight players selected and Newport Mesa high school district (two schools represented) has twelve players selected.

SDS teams placed second and tied for 3rd in SoCal regionals for Div 1, and first and second in SoCal regionals for Div 2.

Maybe ten athletes is not the right number?

I am not suggesting that there are not twelve players from Newport and CDM or eight players from Miramonte and Campolindo who are qualified to be selected for the CA/HI AA roster, but I am suggesting that there might be more than ten players from San Diego Section that could have been selected.

It’s definitely not the most well done list and hasn’t been as long as I can remember. Slots are predetermined. SDS (and I believe combined with Hawaii) get 10 no matter what, and they are spread across each team so it’s one SDS athlete per team.

Not sure why there isn’t something better/more accurate at the point.

Why even make such a list to be honest. Combining CA/Hawaii for an All American list is weird from the start.

Especially strange as there appear to be zero players from Hawaii listed on a Cal/Hawaii AA list

I was told that the Hawaii coaches haven’t submitted their list yet. The Hawaii athletes will be added later.

In SDS it is not one athlete per team, but rather the order they finish in All-CIF Voting. It easy to reconcile, first team is player of the year and then just straight down the list. You are correct in they get ten spots, and the spots go to the 10 first team players. Cathedral and LJHS each had 3 players on the CA/Hawaii list and Bishops had 2, not one per school.

Jett Taylor not among the top 60 players. Not sure what UCLA sees in him.

Maybe other Sections (SS, Central, etc) go deeper in their divisions because the other sections actually publish selections from other than Open Division (with an occasional if rare nod to the D1 MVP).

One poster recently said Taylor might be one of the best players in his class

He definitely has the genes with a NFL father

I think it was a joke showing the ridiculousness of such an “all American” list.

SDHSPolo,

I never mentioned anything about schools. I said there is one SD player per team, and since we are talking about All American teams, I figured it’d be obvious I meant one SD player per All American team. Perhaps I could have articulated that better. I am aware that the team each SD athlete is placed on is based on how they were ranked on their All-Section team.

That makes more sense than the ranking

Thanks for reminding me there’s some occasional humor to be found here!
