2025 Boys ODP Teams

I’d say it’s a long shot for someone who has never made NTSC to make it at Youth level for the first time unless they are participating in Academy.

Does anyone know all of these stats on World Aquatics? I have some guesses for most but really don’t know/

TOTAL % A C X 6M PS CA PSO AS TF ST BL SP 20C 20F 2EX P EX 4EX
15/24 62 3/4 3/3 6/12 2/4 1/1 1 2 2 3/4 3 8 3 1
Goals/Shots Shooting % Some type of Shot Some type of Shot Some type of Shot Shots after fouls Penalty Shots ? Shootout Goals Assist ? Steal Field Block Sprints Ejection at 2M Ejection in the Field Double Exclusion Penalty Foul Some other Exlusion Misconduct

That is the legend from the official Omega scoresheets.

This has been a great thread, I see lots of parents concerned that their kids don’t make a team and lots of talk of coaches pushing their own kids. I have seen it, my son did ODP for a few years, the dev and cadet periods were great. At the youth level he lost interest after being over looked for NTSC during the cadet period. I was supportive and happy not to pay the money and travel to Chicago and Texas. I did an analysis a while ago in the thread showing his cadet team and “where they are now”. After reading this thread this past weekend I wanted to check the DEV team vs where they are now. A simpler format is to just add them up by category. Here are the results from one California zones 2020 Dev teams, 29 players total 14 on red 15 on blue.
Of those 29 kids here is where they are now
(to the best of my knowledge)
9 are playing or are committed to play D1 (4 from Red, 5 from Blue)
2 are playing D2 (one from Red, one from Blue)
4 are playing or going D3 (2 from each)
3 are playing at JUCO (2 from RED, one from Blue)
5 are undecided or not playing from the class of 2025
6 did not play after high school (4 from Red, 2 from Blue)

I just want the Dev parents to understand, don’t let you kids give up if they don’t get selected. In my opinion the only years that matter are the Cadet years, yes it can be hard to break through the ranks if you don’t make DEV, but I felt less interference at the Cadet level. The better kids made it and the others did not. It also shows that Red/Blue don’t matter, if you kid gets put on Blue and you think he should be on Red, he better ball out! If they do, they will get invited to NTSC! If they don’t, the coach was right and it is time to do work.

email me the players. I’m not saying this hasn’t happened, but I do feel in the past few years this issue has improved considerably.

My kid was snubbed in all years of ODP, including the year he received multiple D1 offers. The college coaches are seemingly much less biased than the zone coaches.

love that! Not that he got snubbed but that he got D1 offers! Good info to share with newer parents dealing with ODP. Like many have said kids will make it that don’t deserve it and kids will get overlooked. That does not keep them from playing in College! Nor does it mean if you kids is selected he can go on cruise control and expect D1 offers as soon as coaches can contact them. Some kids are done growing at 15 or are big at 13 but at the end of their trajectory.

I’ve seen more and more players avoid ODP altogether. I think the boys side has improved since 10-15 years ago. I think the girls side now is worse than the boys side was then. Part of it might be the lackluster performance of Team USA women mixed with high expectations.
My pet theory is that the participation numbers with age groups girls are down. Costs are up for both athletes and programs. One way to appeal to players is to push the “we have ODP coaches on staff that will help your player participate in national level events that colleges coaches recruit from”.

There may be something here. The girls at development seem to be much less competitive than last year and the years past

Well, for better or worse, the US really leaned on the 2008 birthdays in Malta and got almost nothing from the 2009 and 2010 birthyear players. 5 boys contributed 80% of the goals.

It seems to me with all this talk of bias, 5 out of 12 players for the SPA zone’s Cadet team are from Mission and attend Jserra… I have also heard that the coach for this zone is a Jserra coach.

Joe,

Do you base your observation on this year’s Pac Dev ODP camps or the general performance of 14U girls teams from the Pacific zone?

Yes. Also no cal combo or pac/central combine
Would love to hear from others

Yes what? Sorry for being a bit obtuse today  Do you base your opinion on the general state of 14U Pac zone teams or just on what you saw at the PAC Dev ODP camps?

Where did you get these stats from? Who are the players?

Ha! Based upon PAC Dev ODP camps. There seemed to be lackluster attendance compared to past years specific to Development . No additional cal combo and central/pac third team

I think PAC zone is losing numbers to other sports. If you watched the Super Bowl, you may have noticed a push of flag football. Steve Young coaches a high school team in the Bay Area.

I see. I think Cal Combo team is possible only if at least one of the non-Cal zones cannot field a team, which leaves one extra spot for a Cal Combo team.

P.S. Both in 2023 and 2024, three top Pac zone 12U girls teams finished 3rd, 4th, and 7th at the JOs. So the talent must be there, I assume.

Trying to get all the data for all the teams is too ambitious for me.
