2025-26 SoCal Girls' Water Polo Season

I’ll take a stab at some good games to watch this week:

  • 12/3: J Serra v. Oaks Christian

  • 12/3: Beckman v. OLu

  • 12/5: Newport v. San Marcos

  • 12/6: Oaks Christian v. Newport

  • 12/6: Foothill v. San Clemente

What am I missing?

Oaks Christian 13 - JSerra 7

OLU VS BISHOPS on 12/10

A few scores:

OLu 19-11 win over Valhalla

Bishop’s 9-5 win over Valhalla

OLu 17-9 win over Beckman

After going down early, Newport came back to beat San Marcos 13-11 (in SB). Newport play Oaks this morning (at Oaks), it should be a very competitive early-season game.

Oaks 10 - 5 win over Newport

CDM 9 j Serra 8 in ot. Girls polo has 12 good teams and will be very fun this year.

Jaimie Neushul will be the next head coach of San Marcos in SB.

Sounds like a solid hire for San Marcos. Jaime certainly knows the game well and has great experience as a player.

This would be my ranking based on fall results and the most current high school results. Olu beat both Oaks and Newport at Futures. CDM lost to San Clemente and San Clemente lost to Foothill.

Will be interesting as I think 1-4 can beat each other on any given day, with Mater Dei as the favorite Then a clear separation behind that. 5-7 also seem very close as well. 8-11 traded games all fall and have shown that again early this season.

  1. Mater Dei

  2. Orange Lutheran

  3. Oaks Christian

  4. Newport

  5. Bishops La Jolla

  6. San Marcos

  7. Long Beach Wilson

  8. Foothill

  9. San Clemente

  10. CDM

  11. JSerra

  12. Valhalla

  13. Harvard Westlake

  14. Marlborough

  15. Laguna Beach

The first real test will be the Bill Barnett Tournament, as multiple teams have transfers currently sitting out that will be available for this tournament and going forward.

Hard to disagree with this list - a very reasonable early season top 15

Who are the transfers sitting out and for which teams?

For the Bill Barnett Tournament, it looks like they have Oaks as the #1 seed

I might be missing a few but here are some of the transfers:

Mater Dei - Campbell Pence

Olu - Bella Jurgenson (UCLA)

Newport Harbor - Sunny Brown (Indiana)

CDM - Sareen Sardarian (UCLA)

J Serra - Aubrey Cordoza, Lola Haley

Foothill - Vivienne Otta, Olivia Morrison

When a sit out period says 12/19/25. Does that mean they can play on 12/19, or is that the last day they need to sit out, and can play starting on the 20th?

The Bill Barnett tournament starts on the 19th

From what I am reading, they are eligible to start playing on the date specified by CIF. So transfers should be eligible to play on Friday.

Oaks Christian - Lyra Gavazzi
