Transfer Portal - Women

Rumor is that Sekulic is going to Harvard.

I do think a transfer from Princeton to Harvard for athletic reasons is extremely rare so I would really be surprised by this

Transfer window deadline is tomorrow June 3rd.

A good pickup for the Cardinal. She will be a valuable asset to that team who will be looking to fill the role of Ryann Neushul. She’s got Olympic and international experience so you would expect her to make an immediate impact for them.

Per recent Instagram posts, LMU has 5 transfers coming in (i.e. a couple each from Hawaii and Marist).

That brings their grand total to 11 new players (5 transfers + 6 freshmen) for the 2027 season.

LMU needed it because they lost seniors and two international freshman didn’t come back because they were home sick.

What is your (the collective!) take on the impact on recruiting for the '27 and '28 classes?
Can athletes change their commitments if a coach leaves a program?
The dominos effects are going to be far ranging on this one it seems.

I could be wrong but I believe that any commitments that have been made by the class of 2027 thus far are verbal and are therefore non-binding. I haven’t heard any commitments yet on the women’s side for the class of 2028 as it’s very early. As far as the class of 2026, if they have a signed agreement with an institution for this year, I would assume they would have to wait until the portal opens up in order to transfer if they are unhappy with the new coach.

Honestly, the 5-in-5 ruling will have a greater impact on these two classes than anything else, in my opinion.

Correct, when someone signs they sign with the institution (not the coach) for one year.

Now granted there are very limited circumstances where you can be released from a signed letter of intent, but those are far and few

Important to note that five days after Hawaii announces their new head coach, there will be a 15-day special transfer portal open to all athletes on Hawaii.
