There has been a lot of discussion regarding the upcoming fall season but not much about the D3 level and I wanted to open up the discussion. Any clear favorites or up and coming teams?
Should be interesting with Johns Hopkins and Conn College moving to MPSF East. I wonder how that will shape the playoffs this year?
Intriguing. This should make this year an extremely competitive one for D3.
There is a lot to consider across this season with many contenders if I do say so myself.
The changes in conference does put MIT in a bad spot as they technically don’t have a path to D3s while they’re in the NWC. Previously it was two SCIAC, one MPSF and one other East Coast team.
now if MIT leaves their conference it puts the NWC teams one short of their bid to NCAAs
It’s great to see so much discussion about the political quagmire of the D3 collegiate water polo landscape. I never reckoned upon to seeing this. Fantastic!
Could we see a team like Wagner move to the NWPC should MIT choose to leave the conference? This would give the mid Atlantic and NWPC 6 teams each. Wagner also makes sense geographically, they would essentially replace Saint Francis-BK, who lost their program a few years back.
The usual suspects: Pomona Pitzer vs Claremont McKenna. Last years champ Redlands lost to much and so did runner up Chapman. PP lost a goalie but all key field players were young. Fill the goalie loss and they could be back to back champs. I believe CM lost a couple key field players but also return other key players and their goalie.
I haven’t considered that nor do I have expertise on this situation from my experience. But I think this could all make not only D3 but also D1 more interesting.
Augustana coach has really done a good job with that program. Nice to see some teams coming from outside California and creating the opportunity for non-California players to play this sport.
