Extremely frustrating. I spent 29.99 last weekend for Futures and literally was only able to watch a few games that would freeze. Then this weekend I spent another 29.99 and could not get games at different pools. It’s not ok to charge that much and then can’t even watch games. Communication is lacking too. I’ve emailed them numerous times and ZERO response.

If I were a coach sitting on the east coast I would be extremely upset if I couldnt pay $30 to watch the west coast teams play tournaments that I am not flying out for.

The replays constantly freeze too. GOLS is a really bad video platform. Go back to putting them on youtube.

No GOLS stream for the 14s at UCI. And for the record, both AT&T and Verizon have enough upload for a 4k live stream (15mbs bitrate).
It’s time to stop paying.
Only way this gets better is if people stop paying and it goes back to YouTube
Not paying, or at least allow competition. Cronyism doesn’t work. Yes I realize it is reality and aligns with the vast majority of our real world which is misconstrued as capitalism.
I can’t imagine anything worse. For those of a certain age, it would be as if during a Celtics/Lakers broadcast featuring Bird, McHale, Magic, and Kareem, we had Johnny Most and Chick Hearn announcing together. OTOH, would work very well if there were two feeds, each with commentary from a pair of parents from the same team, so the other partisans could make sure they were not going to hear anything they disagreed with.

i think @JFranPolo does the best commentary for the games i have watched on GOLS, and i don’t seem to have the problems that every one is talking about when i am watching on my home wifi.

Joel is great. There’s another older guy who’s name I don’t know gets very into the games, kind of a more nasally voice. I enjoy him. There’s a younger (curly hair) guy who does a good job, too. He does some Overnght stuff as well.
I know I had issues with playback for Futures Finals, but now I can’t access the streams at various sites. “Content cannot be played at the moment. Try again later.”
I never thought I would be like my parents, but this is ridiculous. I know last year a parent got yelled out because they were live streaming using Starlink. They just went on the other side of the fence and set up their equipment. Still a better view and stream.
How much blame goes on the stream v venues v tournament organizers at this point?
I saw GOLS Starlink available at Capo today…i wonder if it was any better?

@GameOnLiveStudio After reading some of the comments, I went to the GOLS site to check if they have a ‘Team’ page introducing their commentators. I couldn’t find it. It would be useful to add, even for the livestream, who is doing the commentating. There are many occasions I want to thank them for a great job and for making the game live. At times, just provide feedback. One thing I find underwhelming is a commentator announcing the cap #s instead of the players’ names. There’s a wide range of quality and ‘standards.’
On the ‘good finding’ aspect, browsing through the GOLS site, I came across their [Podcast] (The Extra Pass Podcast - Game On Live Studio) and listened to Dusty’s interview about the history of the Future league and some of his thoughts on club WP.

Today a GOLS commentator asked the referee to make sure anyone with cameras wasn’t streaming. I think the referees declined to get involved.

I think that’s a fair ask if GOLS is able to provide a watchable stream. They have not for the last 3 tournaments, so I’ve had to stream. I would much rather they stream and I just enjoy the game and everyone at home or with kids at other pools gets the professional commentating.
I’m rooting for GOLS to do a good job this time around.

Does GOLS pay USAWP for the streaming rights? Futures pays GOLS to stream the games. Maybe that’s why the futures quality can be better than the paid tournaments.
