JO Quals Schedules

I believe many, if not all, of the MTN zone age groups have not done quals in a few years.

That’s a great way to show seeding!

Anytime MNT, or any other zone, does something similar to Team Vegas “creative” team placements ( fielding teams populated by OC kids or Florida kids) USA Water polo should take the allocations used “creatively” and redistribute it to other zones.

Has the PAC Zone 16/18s Quals schedule for this upcoming weekend come out? If so, please share. Thank-You!

Appreciate it. Thank-You!

I don’t think folks know the situations in different pools or what’s asked of them, and complain without knowing the full story.

To give some insight…a lot goes in to scheduling JO’s and JO Quals. The folks that work those pools for the most part do a great job. They have to volunteer a ton a hours to get everything set up for the athletes, the refs and the spectators. There are many things out of their control, and complaining about a pool when they’re doing a great job and maybe what was asked of them…possibly last minute request, so a small timeline…is really frustrating to say the least. It makes folks not want to do it again.

You have to secure pool time, coordinate set up of the course, procure snacks and cold drinks for the refs for the day. You have to order lunch and if your site is good breakfast on a tight budget. Schedule workers (hopefully trained, if not train them), coordinate breakdown, have a safety plan, etc. Many folks like me do this outside of our work hours, and outside of our coaching hours. Minimizing their work by degrading their pool is not “good sportsmanship”.

Some pools can be used last minute, one example is Freedom High, and was put together within less than a week. Spending so much of my own free time to procure a pool that 1) I didn’t want to use and 2) didn’t have a choice and 3) have to bring equipment there tomorrow on my own free time 4) using our own new balls because zone dish t provide any and last minute planning 5) Missing my first game at JO Quals where my daughter is playing just to help a last minute request due to pools being down one day, and I’m the assistant coach. Also, I plan to configure Freedom pool differently Friday, a pool which I’ve only set up 3 times, which will have refs on both sides this time (USAWP made us set that course up differently last time with only refs on one side).

We say we want to grow the sport of waterpolo, but yet we complain when it’s not perfectly suited for your location, standard, etc.

Please think twice before you judge, your athletes are watching and everyone working hard to grow the sport and help the sport deserve better.

Girls Futures is out. Looks like a platinum Jo’s solid tournament across the Div 1 brackets !

18UB Pacific looks like it was super competitive with the top teams being equal on any given day.

Those Campo Boys at CCU nicked the Lamo (Mats) team in the final. Been awhile i think.

Was a great game for sure! An instant classic!

More than a few good games were played at Los Altos yesterday as Diablo Alliance/Norcal, LAMO/Stanford Red as well as SF Polo/SJ Express Blue were all very competitive and fun games to watch!

Stanford vs Atherton (Stanford over Atherton 13-12) and SFWPC vs SHAQ (SF upsetting SHAQ 10-8) @ SHP were also very fun to watch.
