Thanks for noting the discrepancy, Sunscreen. I haven’t been able to speak with anyone who watched the Corona del Mar/Oaks Christian game. However, the CIF Regional Tournament website now shows that Oaks Christian won 14-8.
Do teams focus on this less and play guys that may have gotten less playing time last week? Not to discredit a very good Oaks team, but 14-8 seems like a gap that would be more than would be expected.

I thought there was something peculiar about that initially reported score of 10-6 CDM. That was the identical score of last Wednesday’s semi-final match between the two. I suspect somehow that score got inserted into the State’s bracket for a few hours last night.
Absolutely. It’s a meaningless tournament. I doubt anyone other than Cathedral Catholic cares about this to try to win a championship in 2025 with their talented squad!

Looks like each of SDS Section’s Open 1-5 finishers has something to prove. Lots to be decided in Division II tomorrow in addition to the SDS Open final rematch in Division I.
SDS Div 2 champions Oceanside put up a serious fight against Cap Valley losing by 1 goal, while SDS Division 1 champions Torrey Pines gave up a tying goal with 34 seconds left in their QF against Carlsbad before losing that game in OT.
CDM played younger guys in the first half, even freshman. I heard starters played most of the last half but didn’t seem to try. It seems like they wanted to lose and not face Newport again.
