Kai Kaneko - Newport - Stanford

top recruit in this class.

Stanford’s 2026 recruiting class is looking to be an early contender for the best recruiting class.

Great pick up by Stanford! He is one of the best all around players in the class.

Best recruiting class these days basically doesn’t involve American 18 year olds. Cal won the recruiting war this year with 5 foreigners, 3 American HS players likely to all redshirt, and 2 college transfers. Times have changed that a HS senior will help win games in D1 water polo.

Kaneko is the most well-rounded attacker in the class.

I agree with you, but Connor Ohl and Kai Kaneko are exceptional domestic players. C.Ohl was at Singapore with the senior team. I’ve also heard from multiple sources within the Stanford waterpolo circle that they have 2-3 high level internationals coming in, one of whom was a big contributor on a top U20 worlds team.

Kai Kaneko was 1st team all-tournament at U16 world championships in Malta in 2024. He’s a top player in his age group by any comparison.

Marco Rizof- Newport- Santa Clara.

Newport might have a record-breaking number of D1 commits for 2026. That class is loaded with talented players!

Can now confirm that Albert Sabadell from Spain’s U20 team has committed to Stanford. Sabadell scored 6 goals vs the U.S in the U20 championship game and will enter as a 20 year old freshman at Stanford and will likely be one of, if not, the best incoming freshman in the Class of 2026.

Recruiting pace has accelerated after Gibson made his list public. It is getting shorter. WPEX lists made coaches’ jobs much easier

Oh, god. I know this is a joke. Please don’t anyone think this is true. Clamoring to be on a WPEX list will not change your kid’s recruiting profile.

You can add 17 year old Dimitrios Chatzis to that list now too. Chatzis was one of the youngest players for Greece at U20 worlds. He also led the U18 Euros in goals with 31 goals and is a utility player. Another big pickup for Flacks.
