If you are invited to Worlds and can go a fews weeks before the event to train. You must go. This could be a once in a lifetime for some of these athletes. NJO’s will still be a wonderful event. Most of the top teams will be missing a player or two. That means more opportunities for the other athletes.

Cadet June camp is June 28-July 2 (next week, after SuperFinals) and we can expect the Cadet Worlds roster to be released shortly thereafter. I would imagine that the two Cadet-eligible athletes who are competing with the Youth team in Portugal next week for Youth Worlds (June 27-July 4) will occupy 2 of the 15 available Cadet roster spots.
All the kids that make these rosters sure get some cool trips for all their hard work 
It wasn’t last week? So, those kids who will miss JOs won’t know until 3 weeks before? This timing seems unacceptable. It could have been done by now. Hard choices to make, but make them.
Get? They still have to fundraise to pay for them. Ain’t no ‘get’.

I agree that the timing seems extremely late. The girls already have their team and, in fact, they have the Cadet Worlds girls’ team competing in the 18u division of US Club Championships as a squad this weekend to start building some chemistry. Tough losses for their respective club teams, but good opportunity for those teams to start sorting out positions and roles prior to playing JO’s without these girls. Granted, the girls’ Cadet Worlds tournament is July 25-31 and boys is August 3-9, but it still seems late!

but wait, i thought everyone already knew who was getting selected before ODP camps even started? (at least that’s what people on this board have said). if these kids genuinely don’t know by this time, it is beyond unacceptable…
I doubt anyone said “everybody already” knows. If there are 15 players, 12 probably are probably pretty confident, 12 more are hoping to be those last 3. I agree, the decisions should be made by now.

But if they are playing in this weekends USCCs then the roster is known.
Boys is not yet known. Girls is. The ones I don’t list high schools for just completed 8th grade.

So these players selected to represent USA at World Championships still have to ‘fundraise’ to pay for their trip?
Somehow I thought that if you were the top 15 selectees, for tournaments like this, your trip was covered, and that you only had to fundraise if you were going to one of the ‘training’ of ‘futures’ trips, for the ones that don’t make the top team roster?
The men’s Youth team didn’t find out selections until two weeks before domestic camp and three weeks before leaving for Europe. Agree that this could’ve been wrapped up far earlier.
I think that there’s still fundraising at this level.
I know a guy who played on the U20 youth team a few years back and he confirmed, a donation of 3600 dollars by way of his mothers credit card was required to make the team.
