You could tell from the first quarter this could be an upset… Cal came out fearless and set the tone
Big congrats to Cal!

Completely agree.
My only question is Catherine Carpenter?
What an exciting game! Just shows the parity at the top
People around me were definitely theorizing that having fewer games hurt Stanford…would love to hear more thoughts on this?
Def the minimal amount of refular season games cost Stanford IMO…let’s see what happens between USC and UCLA now
Excuse the typo…regular
Cal vs USC tomorrow for the National Championship.
What a great way to end a memorable season.
I assume everyone on this board wants to see the sport grow.
Why is it that the National Championship is behind a Disney/Hulu/ESPN+ paywall and COMPLETELY unavailable to parents of international players.
Once again, great job by NCAA and USA Water Polo…I wonder how much of a cut they each get??? ![]()

Hi,
The game is on ESPNU not ESPN+, so it should not be behind a paywall. I believe most cable packages include ESPNU if you have regular ESPN purchased.
However, don’t count this as gospel, as I am sure someone on the Exchange has a spreadsheet with every possible broadcasting scenario by region
What needs to be done is have a local establishment to broadcast the game. I prefer hitting a brewery and getting the game on
Paywall…
ESPNU is not a paywall. Yes, you can also go to espn+ and try and stream, or tune into ESPNU
the stream yes as that is part of watch espn. Go to your TV and find ESPNU. Or if you have YoutubeTV go to that app.
They aren’t. Just tune in. It’s pretty simple. You are making this nothing burger into something it isn’t.
Thanks for coming to my rescue.
I got USC right, but Cal totally surprised me yesterday. I really did not think that they had any chance of winning a do or die game against Stanford. Again, congrats to them. When was the last time that a 4 seed beat a 1 in a women’s NCAA game?
if The FOSH is correct, Stanford made Cal’s goalie make only 2 saves the entire game. To me, that is an incredible stat.
I will give Cal another shot to make me look foolish and I will go with USC winning 14-11 tonight.
USC wins it! Great defensive effort by them. They held Cal’s top 6 scorers to 3 combined goals!
Cal definitely had their chances. They went 3/13 with the 6v5 advantage and missed a 5M shot.
This was a phenomenal game to end a really competitive season.
Possibly but I would also argue that the officiating in the game was not up to par for a national championship game. At the same time Cal did not take advantage of their opportunities. Hard to win a game going 3/13 on exclusions and missing a 5 meter. 16:10 exclusion ratio in favor of Cal btw. Not to mention a one on nobody right in front of the cage that Reed blocked. Games like this are won by small details and margins.
Not to mention the TWO whiffs in front of the goal. That’s not to take anything away from Reed, she played one helluva game, but you can’t miss those kinds of opportunities right in front of the goal even once in a game like this, and Cal missed two of them.
