Pedro is going to Golden West and then Long Beach.
They have some young kids to watch that are not committed yet, Two Brazilians really good players (Marcelo and Ricky) and two from San Juan Hills, Bruno Massa (great defender and a versatile dual-threat on offense) and Liam Freedman (big powerful center).
Great Jr Olympics, so many excellent games!

Do they all intend on returning? Not to be rude or disrespectful, but it sounds like they were let down quite a bit and thereâs lots of movement coming to the area. The question has to be askedâŚwould those young players have developed the same, more or less at another club with higher standards? And does that answer warrant them staying? I ask especially after hearing of the constant 3/4 short practices and listening to parents vent.
Pedro is a talented young man and anyone who gets him will be stoked! Not just by his skill but by his character.

You are right 100%. I know that the kids were not happy with practice and coaching. The two Brazilian kids played last year at 16U with Adam in N.I and Bruno and Liam played in OCWP with the now Aetos kids. I remember N.I vs OCWP going to shut outs to go to semi final last year. I feel bad for them because all the Sta.Margarita kids move from Ocwpc to Aetos so, they moved to N.I and that happened. And you are right about Pedro. He is a great goalie and a great kid. He got recruited by Long Beach but is going to Golden West the first year.
What happened in that game?
Next year Stanford returns most for their main players plus the Atherton guys and many strong players form their 16 and under championship team. They should be very good next year.
Shoutout to Newportâs Sean Anderson. Big impact player on both 16s and 18s. Played 4 games today. He had to be in pain by the end of the day. Havenât seen an impact player play 4 game on the last day of Joâs since 2021. That was vanguardâs Ryder Dodd and Zach Bettino. They won 16s and finished 2nd in 18s that year. Good company for Anderson to be in. Super curious to see how massive his role will be in the high school considering the loss of all those seniors and the young team theyâll have.

Shoutout to Newport. They did come up just shy in the 18u Boys game but as a program they were on the podium in the Championship division for 4-of-5 age groups, which beat the Donâs 3-of-5 haul.

I just wanted to state that for Joâs they should really re think the qualifying. There should be a different system for qualifiers that you just play for seeding for Joâs. Long Beach Shore a team in national league who beat Dons (without Jett or Grayson) and beat top teams like SD shores.
They played in the classic divison and won every game by 10+ goals. It was unfair to these other teams who just had no chance playing against a team that definitely should be platinum. The Long Beach shore team consist of mostly Wilson kids who just placed 4th in the Newport invite beating some of the top high school teams. In qualifiers I believe they only lost 1 game in a shootout to ciu. One of the top 24 teams so I think they should really reconsider the biddings for each zone

I was wondering the same thing, I was looking for Shore in Champ and was amazed when I saw them in Classic. How does that happen?
LB Shore was in Classic because they didnât do well enough at Coastal JO Quals to capture one of the 6 automatic spots for the championship tournament.
I know other arguments have been made to shrink the field at JOs and potentially redo the seeding model which is what Futures has done. Thereby allowing teams to progress up and also be relegated down into different divisions. JOâs is meant to appeal to a nationwide audience, which is why they put limits on how many teams get automatic bids.

Coastal Quals are tough - if you lose any game on Day 1 you are basically relegated to 7th through 12th without an option to get back in. Have seen this year after year.

In order to qualify for top 6 in SPA zone, teams must win both of their first two games in bracket play.
Iâm not sure thatâs correct. From what I saw in SPA there are a lot of cross over games for the 5-12 teams so that seeding is not the reason you donât qualify. You must win 1 of your first two games and finish in the top 3 and then from there you cross with the other 2s and 3âs.
Didnât you lose to South Coast in quals, a 7th place classic team? This argument is old. Just win. You lost to South Coast and you think you are a platinum team? Foothill didnât make the gold championship and they did better than you in Quals too. Just win.

Factually incorrect. SPA 18u boys Quals has 6 brackets. Winner of each bracket (ie. Wins their first two games) goes automatically to top 6. Happy to share if you have trust issues.
Letâs fact check this further. You had 4 games you won by less than 10. 9 goals over a B team, 6 over SET (a D3 Futures team I believe, maybe D2), 8 over Rose Bowl B, 8 over Santa Cruz, a D2 Futures team. And that CIU team you mention got 23rd. You are below them so yeah, not platinum.
This hardly screams platinum.
Just to add another detail, they were down 5-4 to Set after the first.
No sour grapes, they were definitely the best team in Classic but it wasnât the walk in the park it would have been for most of the Championship/Platinum level teams.
I am sure that LB Shore is a good team but they finished outside the top six at the CCA Quals so they are probably not absolutely great either. On a positive note, they won the Classic so they made the best out of their situation.
Sometimes, teams from the strongest zones that miss Championship placement by one position do not do that well. Socal 14u girls were the first seed in the Classic division this year. Somebody on this board predicted that they would destroy everybody in the Classic division. Socal finished just 16th.
