Are they playing 6 minute quarters? I see one goalie didn’t play while the other logged 24 minutes which leads me to wonder.

I would think they’d be playing 7 minute quarters

6 minute quarters. I was surprised to see that as well. Maybe in classification games they’ll get to play 7 minutes?

That said, to score 34 goals (as MNE did against ZIM, who scored twice)), you’re looking at pulling the ball out of the cage every 40 seconds on average.

Interesting stats for USA today. Took 8 less shots than Russia and limited ourselves to a single action shot, yet put more shots on goal than Russia (USA had 6 field blocks to 1 for Russia).

The announcer referring to them as the “Blue team” and “White team” was annoying for what it was and why it’s happening.

The announcer in general was quite annoying and rude. It was the same one for the girls games

The rumor…is that Croatia has an issue with Russia being there at all for geopolitical reasons and doesn’t want the Russian flag or any Russian recognition at all so maybe just using dark and white caps allows for sterile announcing and not saying “Russia” over and over.

Source is a Euro WP IG site that I came across one night (and had to translate) while googling why they are using pixels instead of flags for the Countries on the WA website.

Who knows…but agree…annoying.
