We are just going to have to disregard the comment “Ala beast Boys” when you associate that with SOCAL 18s.
barin, you are new here to this chat group, and I can tell you are throwing a ‘dig’ at SOCAL, but the nucleus of SOCAL 18s has been together since the 10Us, so thank you for your input and predictions, but lets keep it objective
Hats off to Seaside’s 18u team for finishing first in Group “P” play. I didn’t think Seaside would beat Newport. Seaside plays SOCAL tomorrow. The winner of that game and the winner of the Lamorinda/SB 805 game qualify for the semifinals on Sunday.
Is the linked document being updated at all? It’s not showing any scores for me.
Try this link:
Three PSW teams (Shores/La Jolla/Del Mar) in the top 12 of 16u girls probably wasn’t on anyone’s bingo card, and is likely a first!
Didn’t Bella J come over to Socal from Regency this year?
Great to see PSW coming back into form for both the boys and girls!
How are tie-breakers determined in group play?
All teams finish at 1-1. Does a shoot-out loss hurt less and thus eliminate the goal differential?
I know Futures clearly uses the points system that gives 1 point for a loss and 2 points for a shoot-out loss. Is this the standard in JOs as well?
Newport +3
Seaside +1 - but loss was in shootout.
LB -4
= Seaside advances
I think the point that cbarrot was trying to make is Beast Boyz comprised of a group of college bound players who came from different teams to form an all star team, similar to what was done about 4-5 years ago on the boys side (team name escapes me). Though they didn’t fare as well due to lack of team chemistry, while the Beast Boyz had opportunities to play together and gel.
The player you are referring to had to leave a frustrating HS situation and probably had no choice but to go to SOCAL. More importantly, she is not a college bound player.
I do not believe that to be the case. JOs goes by World Aquatics rules which uses goal differential followed by goals scored.
@Marco how did you get your reply to include the original message you are replying to? That was a feature in WPP that made it easier to follow what folks are commenting on and something I wish WPEX would implement.

I had that assumption too but here’s the scores from Group P play Newport/Seaside/LB Vikings
Looks like Newport won goal differential but Seaside advanced as 1st in P. Didn’t see any games just going by results posted.
Day 3 is always an interesting one. Looking forward to some good matchups.
I see what you are seeing. I got nothing. I may be misunderstanding something, but per the published rules I think Newport would have a complaint, or at a minimum should seek clarification.
