I believe that SCAR worked very hard for there great win against Mission. I also know that only 2 of the SCAR boys are ineligible for JO’s. Rumor is that scar will be staying together. Knowing this SCAR is most definitely in the top three in the nation for 14u.
SCAR played a great game against Mission today. If a team loses 2 of their top players or important position players (ie goalie or center), it could be a dramatic shift. The top teams I’ve listed aren’t losing anyone (that I’m aware of). We’ll soon see how these teams shake up in winter.
NorCal 14u team will have the biggest upgrade when HS season ends.
Welcome to the board.
With regards to SCAR, I knew about PV, Trojan, LAWPC, and Shore Aquatics, but did SCAR add American River to the alliance at the last moment?
They played very well and will definitely miss their center, who scored 4 in the final, drew a drop for his attackers, and I’m fairly certain will age up next week.
We were all hoping he was one of the two. Thanks for the good news! ![]()
Robert Lynn and Chi Kredell came together to make some special happen. Beating CIU and Mission by 5 all in the same day says a lot about the coaching that took place.
SCAR had a good Sunday. Not sure combining 4-5 clubs for the entirely of the fall session, including at least a couple of 15u athletes, and squeaking by is impressi but they did have a good tournament.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but these aren’t exactly powerhouse 14u clubs most of the boys came from
Sounds to me like they took Wigo’s Channel Islands model and injected it with steroids. Kudos to Mission for beating them handily in the first game and to LJU for taking them to a shootout. The depth that an all-star team provides was undoubtedly a huge advantage over CIU and Mission on the 3rd day of intense play when others were fatigued. I’m not a fan of super teams and never will be but to each their own. Funny that it seems to be a trend among Olympians.
The interesting part to me is the kids on the various clubs they left behind, to include at JOs when they combined PV and Shore and told the people at each club, see ya, we want to try to win, meanwhile you should keep paying big dues for a watered down version of competition where the best players who would have helped each club are gone.
It’s a strange business model, but people are free to leave I guess. It’s funny how clubs preach loyalty and commitment but then things like this happen.
The tournament is over but parents are still fighting. LOL.
I do not understand what is a big deal. Your kids had a very good competition which will allow them to get better.
You’re absolutely right, I did notice that first game that Mission beat the SCAR team. I am guessing SCAR made some adjustments to beat “powerhouse”club teams and make their way back into the Championship. Correct me if I am wrong but if you play in the Olympic Games and represent your country, that makes you an Olympian for life?
Edited to correct the well-deserved title.
just making the point that the clubs some of the SCAR boys came from aren’t exactly lighting it up in 14u. Don’t know the entire composition but makes the coaching that much more impressive IMO.
On the subject of super teams. I am sure it can be annoying if your kid’s team, all of a sudden, faces a stiffer competition from a super team. And yes, we can always talk about loyalty etc. but the picture is not black and white. Kids move between clubs a lot.
And if one wants to talk about LB Shore, here is a case in point. On the girls side, the club now competes for LB kids with two newer clubs, 908 and LB Vikings. Probably, quite a few kids came to these new clubs from Shore.
It helps stronger kids to train and play with stronger kids. As long as placement is fair and parents were notified about a possibility of a superteam before they signed for a session, I see no problem.
If you’re upset about SCAR then you need to define your understanding of the term “super team”. Is it about club paying dues going to different places? Or about geography? Or about # of practices together each week? For those upset - what’s your definition?
I don’t have a problem with what SCAR did. They looked and acted like a very cohesive team. (And they made this tournament really exciting).
There are LOTS of USAWP clubs that have a vast geographic territory and the kids don’t practice together very much and no one complains about it or calls them a “super team.” So is it about $$ and how people spend it?
There is tons trash talking and club jumping in every zone in USAWP. And I have seen that the clubs who talk a lot trash about other local clubs tend to absolve themselves whenever their own club makes a competitive decision.
6-8 has the roster. It is also worth noting the SCAR roster has changed over the season. From the outside, it appears Shore Aquatics has been backing away. At Back to School, Shore players were half the roster. At Champion’s Cup, I think there was one Shore kid.
Do you know what clubs made up the SCAR team besides PV and Shore?
Trojan and LA Water Polo plus a kid from American River in Sacramento.
