2025-2026 14u Boys Club Season

Playing with the 14u team can allow a player to develop offensively. Playing against older bigger players can sometimes hinder offensive development and creativity. Nothing wrong with being the star instead of someone that fills a role at 16 u.

Does anyone know if the Shore Aquatic team going to Champions Cup, the same Shore SCAR team consisting of a handful of teams?

Yes. It is the SCAR super-team.

In the Champions Cup game of the day, Mission took down the Shore SCAR “super team” 12-7. Brevin Kass scored 7 goals for Mission and Jack Bambury added 3 along with some great assists and defense.

Brevin Kass was one of the more impressive attackers at the Cousineau Cup. #BrightFuture

Mission vs Shore SCAR was the game of the day. SD Shores vs 680 was a good back and forth game. The two best teams, in my opinion, are LJ United and Mission. They play tomorrow afternoon. The loser has a good chance to make the semis on Sunday. I can see these two teams meeting again in the finals.

If I’m reading this right he made dev NTSC in down year, didn’t make it up year, moved to Mission and now is dropping 7 on a stacked team w/ (edit: 16U players old enough to be) HS freshmen. That’s a very unusual combination.

There are no HS freshmen at the tournament. It’s restricted to 7-8 grades

But there are several 8th graders in this tournament that aren’t eligible for 14u going into the winter and beyond. They will age up after this weekend.

Brevin Kass is a certified stud, and his not making NTSC was a crime. He has a Q4 birthday. Last year in the Dev age group, there were twenty-two kids with Q4 birthdays on zone teams, and zero of them received an invite to NTSC. Even a kid who had been previously named to a national team and who has enough talent to score as much as an entire “super team“ by himself could not overcome the bias against Q4 birthdays last year.

So, How many kids from Mission will move to the 16’s (is Brevin one of them)?

I don’t know Mission’s whole roster, but I do know that Brevin will be playing 14u in JOs this summer.

I do believe that all of the Mission team members are 14U for JO’s.

What teams have kids moving up?

For sure SD Shores and the Shore SCAR super team have JO 16u kids.

Great game this morning between La Jolla and the Shore SCAR team ended in a shootout win for Shore. Lots of teams still in the hunt.

Very entertaining game between SCAR and La Jolla. The top 3 teams I’ve seen (Mission, SCAR, La Jolla) are all in one bracket. Unfortunately, only 2 will make the semis. The loser of Mission/La Jolla will drop into the 5-8 bracket. In the other bracket, CIU appears to be in the driver’s seat. NorCal, 680 and SD Shores still have a chance to advance. Should be a fun finish!

Mission with a 6-5 win over La Jolla. Excellent defense by both teams.

Tomorrow’s semis:

Shore SCAR v CIU

Mission v San Diego Shores

It’ll be a rematch between Mission and Shore SCAR for the championship.

SD Shores and Channel Islands will rematch in the bronze medal game.

Champions Cup is over. Shore SCAR took it to Mission after losing to them on Friday.

I’d sure like to see it done like Futures; two divisions. Just using the eye test, it could be a much more competitive tournament. Great teams and lower level zone teams…nobody wants to be part of a blowout game. Maybe (2) 8 teams divisions. Just a thought.

It’s only the end of fall, but after watching A LOT of 14u games the last couple of months, here’s my takeaway going into winter.

These 4 teams standout as the teams to beat: Newport, La Jolla, Mission, CIU

There are about a dozen solid teams in the next group, but a pretty sizeable gap between the top 4.

I’m excluding Vanguard, SD Shores, Shore SCAR. Their top athletes are moving to 16s. I’m not sure about the other teams and I’m not accounting for clubs getting their 14u high school boys back.
