Yes. Which is interesting because UCSD Was deemed an affiliate for Big West while the rest of the school is also moving to the WCC
which would make a lot more sense when it comes to the teams needed for a conference to have an AQ!

As they would be key to make WCC women’s water polo happen in 2027-2028, hope this is just a minor blip for St. Mary’s, as their President says they are in progress of a 3 year plan to address.
Word is IU is leaving the MPSF as well.
The travel for IU has to be killing them

.. it makes sense for them to be in the CWPA with Michigan/Princeton/Harvard, etc

Sounds like MPSF will only have 5 schools with IU leaving for CWPA and SJ leaving for GCC / Big West.
6 is the magic number - UCLA, USC, Cal, Stan, & ASU will need to bring in a 6th member if they want to retain their AQ - but no one wants to be in that conference, I think the MPSF used to be about 13 schools back in ~2006, but slowly everyone has fled to other conferences with better chances to make NCAAs.
I see 2 options:
#1) Davis may be forced to join if the WCC won’t take affiliate members and the Big West says “no”
#2 Get a patsy like the MPSF men did - Austin College or a D3 CWPA team?

GCC: LMU, UOP, Santa Clara, St. Mary’s and UC Davis. Needs 1 team. Or does conference go away? Will WCC be formed?

CWPA D1: Harvard, Princeton, Brown, Indiana, Michigan, Bucknell and Mercyhurst

Big West: Hawaii, LBSU, UCI, Fresno State, UCSD, SDSU, SJSU, CBU, CSUF, CSUN

UCSB has not announced which conference they are playing in yet.
The MPSF will get another member. Is it better to have the MPSF with many top schools or put those schools in other conferences? Without an AQ, the schools will disperse. On the men’s side, the big four would likely always win if they were each in other conferences. Is that what the schools or fans want?
@Gibson re: AQ… it would be a shame if GCC AQ (or a conference replacement for that) went away…
Seems silly the WCC has not been formed for the 2027-28 year with UCSB and UCSD joining to have 6 full members fielding WWP and UC Davis an affiliate in MWP. UCSD signing on to stay as a Big West affiliate over the summer seemed pretty premature.
