Sadly no. I didn’t get to Loma Verde until the 3rd game, but I did get to see a lot of Patriot and Temple City this weekend. I think I have a good gauge of Temple City now, but Patriot is a wild card. I’ve seen them look great, and I’ve seen them look not great. Versus SOCAL, Patriot looked great and not great in the same game.
agreed, we had quality refs in most games, I was pleasantly surprised.

14u Del Mar boys A team looks pretty strong 
On the boys side, 14u A finals between Greenwhich B and Mission B was pretty fascinating- Mission boys almost staged a great comeback. I assume those were B teams but some boys could really play.
On the girls side, I recall that somebody mentioned 14u Santa Cruz team on this board 5-6 months ago. My first guess was that some parents were talking up their kids team but boy I was wrong. It looks like they have a decent team. Maybe they got kids from other clubs as their 12s were not strong the last two years…
I am not sure that Newport vs Patriot B game was that close btw
For 12u girls, Davis will definitely be in the top 12 after the first day of the JOs. They finished 3rd two years ago in 10u so no surprise there…
From my experience watching different pools, I would say the officiating was consistent, which is more than I can say for most tournaments. I did notice a few games where physicality and some player attitudes towards officials were higher than normal, but never really got out of hand.
If the consistency can stay, it makes it easier for coaches and players to adjust accordingly. Last few years at JOs, I can say this was one of the bigger issues I witness: consistency with refs from game to game. Much like teams, I am hoping officials are hitting their stride as we approach JOQs!
