So it was blue 8, SK, that drew the exclusion and got hard contact and reacted, correct?

For the record trackers: Biola defeated Caltech 34–2, setting the largest goal differential among Division I, II, and III teams in the past 20 years, surpassing the previous record set by LBSU’s 36–5 win over Fresno Pacific in 2021.

Yes that is correct.

This happened on the men’s side when Balazs Erdelyi from Pacific won the Cutino award back to back seasons in 2012 and 2013.

Genidounias won the Cutino Award in 2014 even though USC finished as runner-up to UCLA that year.

And McQuin Baron got the 2016 Cutino Award despite USC not winning the NCAA title that year.

I think we can put it to bed you need to win the title. Would be a major upset if Ryder doesn’t win 4. He’s the best player and it’s not that close.

Given this part of the season and how specific players have played, what is everybody’s mid season 3 finalists for the cutino award? Pretty much 2 finalists after Ryder.

Admittedly, I am a huge James Rozolis-Hill (JRH) fan having seen him play since 12U days at Vanguard. JRH will be in the Player of the Year conversation. He has completely dismantled the “East Coast stat-padder” narrative the moment he transferred to Stanford and stepped onto an MPSF tank.

Dominating the NWPC and shattering Harvard’s career scoring record with 358 goals in just three seasons—including a single-season record 124 goals in 2024—was routinely written off by West Coast purists as high-volume usage against soft opposition. His transition to Brian Flacks’ system in 2026 has proved that his game doesn’t just hold up against the Big 4 (UCLA, Cal, USC, Stanford); it thrives.

His hardware trajectory and skill profile make his Peter J. Cutino Award and USMNT cases undeniable:

Before heading Ivy League, JRH was a product of the legendary Vanguard Water Polo Club and Huntington Beach High School, winning the 2021 Sunset League MVP, earning CIF Open Division First Team honors, and claiming three Junior Olympics MVPs. He was never an East Coast experiment; he was a elite California blue-chip recruit who simply went to Cambridge first.

At 6’6" with an immense wingspan, he breaks the typical static center mold. He swims like a wing player on counterattacks to generate early exclusions, but has the length and core power to lock down opponent centers on defense—evidenced by his 23 field blocks in 2024 at Harvard.

His elevation coupled with high-point arm extension allows him to shoot straight over field blocks rather than fading around them. His quick wrist snap and deceptive hitch-free release leave goalies frozen on baseline and perimeter drives.

JRH is a serious contender to be part of the USMNT. Dejan Udovicic’s system craves long, positionally versatile utility players who can defend the 2-meter line without picking up quick exclusions and push transition against heavy European presses.

His transition to Stanford proves he isn’t just a high-volume scorer—he is one of the most uniquely complete utilities in college water polo.

Should be:
Ryder Dodd: 4 goals, 5 assists, and 2 drawn exclusions against Stanford along with 5 goals, 3 assists, and 2 drawn exclusions against Cal.

James Rozolis Hill: 6 goals and 6 drawn exclusions in wins over UCLA and USC.

For the final one I’d do either Luigi Canepa (5G, 2A in an upset win over SJSU) or Kristof Kovacs (27 saves and just 16 combined goals allowed in wins over Harvard and Brown).

@DaddyGroovy Why did you feel the need to use AI to write this message? I don’t think anyone is expecting a perfectly written narrative on a player, simply your opinion on his ability to transform his game to the MPSF would’ve sufficed.

Tauscher did not have 29 saves this weekend. He had 13 saves and UCLA gave up 32 goals in the two games. Make it 30 goals if you ignore the two 7/6 goals at the end if the Stanford game.
