If this happens to an athlete, are they still admitted to the school?
In his case USC differed his application and eventually rejected him. That said, had the coaches walked it in in November I can’t imagine they would rescind the admission.
I thought so. With all of these recent changes, our kids are completely exposed
Nightmare scenario
Really appreciate you sharing
What do coaches who pull this think is their endgame? No recruit can ever trust a coach who has broken faith this badly in the past.
The coaches likely assume that the reputation of the program will continue attracting top players and that players trust that ‘it won’t happen to me.’
Coaches need to win the next season and it is unlikely a top priority for them to build a franchise.
Seeing a lot of people in other sports like Football to start calling for contracts due to the NIL and transfer portal debacle. Contracts should protect incoming athletes too, even if scholarships and NIL are not part of it. At the end of the day these are universities making promises to 18 year olds about their future, to which most are getting zero money for playing water polo so honor the commitment.
Agreed. Also, coming from a high school that sends very few kids to their team I think made him more vulnerable (Adam would have been their first). Maybe they were hoping it would all blow over
Coaches are going to do what they feel is best for their team and their success. As long as they are making the cuts/decisions within the rules and guidelines, then the real problem lies with the rules. The biggest issue is the timing of the cuts being allowed within the rules currently.
Hey folks
Let’s keep this thread focused on who is going where, updates to the portal, and more concrete movements.
I’d like us to move the discussion on the mechanics of recruiting to this existing thread:
Thanks!

Camden Kocur to USC
I think Grey Shirt for Spring 2026 so really in the 2026 recruiting class.
Why not say he was squeezed for roster caps then he’s off the books for four years?
Felix Pal from Australia (Dad is a Cal bear and brother to Stephen Pal ex. Referee and LBSU) to Harvard
My bad . Deleting now….
Alessandro Salipante, Roma Vis Nova, Fordham
Looks like he’s on the Italian U19 Team

Santino Rossi - UCLA
Jackson Harlan - UCLA
Jackson was a UCSB commit at one point I believe.
He was as of last July. Good add for UCLA. They are young and strong. I’m not sure what this does for their roster limit issues. They appear to have 23 guys on their roster now who could return next year. Assuming LV does not attend, they are adding 5 more HS seniors before any other transfers or internationals.
I want to say he played with CIU (UCSB) in the national league but could be mistaken.. they took down the rosters due to potential legal issues. Now that roster limits are open for the class of 25 I bet UCLA will have very robust roster for next year to allow them to have a large roster for the next 4 season until the true roster limits take effect.
