Apropos of nothing, here is a link to The Positive Coaching Alliance. I encourage everyone on this board to check it out. There is a way to build resilience and character in young people that doesn’t involve verbal and emotional abuse.

Clearly you missed my point, this has nothing to do with the coach, but expectations by the person who recruited you. Retaliation is never acceptable, but coaching styles are very different, you may not fit into a new coaches game plan, its why colleges always let kids out of commitments when a new coach is brought in, in any sport.

Pretty clear here whether they fit the system or not, athletes should be communicated with in an appropriate manner. Being told they are bottom feeders (assuming they don’t fit the system or were recruited by the other coach) just isn’t ok.

If you watched the Teri McKeever situation unfold at Cal, this is similar and coaches should all take notice.

Just remember that these are allegations, not yet substantiated. Unfair to predetermine an outcome.

Hey folks,

While the moderator team and I appreciate the more civil tone in the more recent messages, I think we’ve passed the point of diminishing returns on this discussion and will be closing this one out due to an increase in flagging this afternoon and evening.
